On a serious note I'm a mod to provide an administrative service to this forum. Being a mod is not being a Policeman. Being a mod, is not to be a boss of the forum. Being a mod is not a privilege. Whoever understands it that way, have no clue about what moderation of a forum is. And if one forum put people that feel like that in a forum as a mod, it's a question of not if but when the forum will lose lots of members and popularity.

As I've said, I don't see this as a privilege, a power. I do it because I want to help. But if that's really a problem, I don't have problems in resigning, because this are my main goals in this forum

1) Learn about LFC
2) Practise English
3) Post info if I feel it's relevant for the mates.

I don't need to be a mod to achieve my main goals here. So, Sabre will be a mod as long as the forum mates want it that way. I couldn't care less about being a mod or not, in fact, it's not very exciting to click repeteadly delete on the porn links.

I'm grateful to Ciggy because I like her too (:hearts :hearts :hearts and all that ) and especially because she has been honest in saying she dislikes that decission. I like honest people and she has been. She didn't have to find a pretext like my signature had a RS flag, or I said "so :censored: what". I respect you Ciggy, you had a more manly and valiant attitude than some people. Respect.

And my job as a mod, is at your entire disposition. Quite simply.

Sabre mate your cool, I havent any problems with you being mod. I think your doing a s.hit job well mate  :D

Just thought I'd let you know so you dont feel to disheartenred, by the way I think you should remove old Adrian boy from your sig as he is a cockney    :D

Don't worry mate, in this life you cannot please everybody, that's a fact. Some people will like you some not, and if you're not ready to accept that then you have a problem. I'm not disheartened, nor bothered. Not in the slightest. But if coming back to not being a mod helps in order some are more comfortable posting, why not? I truly don't care. It's all up to yous!!

IS HE A COCKNEY? Well I used to love the young ones, very funny. I'm making a whole new signature and I'll remove it soon :)

A few observations...

1) Are you sure, St. Mike, that Ciggy wanted this PM shared with us all?  It seems that some Private Messages have a hard time staying that way around here.  Fair play if she did want it posted but I think the question needs asking.

2) The porn merchants are a problem but the new mods are doing an exemplary job in helping keep this place child and workplace safe and that very much includes Sabre

3) With the utmost respect to Woof Woof and Ciggy--two posters that I love to read and two very decent people who I've been privileged to correspond with over PM--I really don't understand why Sabre is getting stick for this.  After almost 3500 posts on this board over several years, his commitment to Liverpool should be evident and he's proven that he has the time and the wherewithall to do the--often thankless--job as Mod.  I would have absolutely supported Woof Woof as a Mod too but I have not the slightest reservation about Sabre in this role.

I would very much love to see Ciggy and Woof Woof back here and posting regularly again but Sabre's sound and, from where I sit, he's doing a fantastic job.

Site demands for Sabre

1/ changes nationality to that of a team England can beat (Suggestions welcomed as I can't think of one off hand)

2/ Changes name from the threatning Sabre to a more friendly one of Banana

3/ Changes sex to reflect the sexual equality of the site.

Once these minor demands are met I am sure everyone will feel a lot better about Sabre(Banana) being a mod  :D

sabre thats out of order, I know you are referring to woof, I also know that his request to change your sig was not based on you being made a mod over him. if you go back to that thread you will  see him laughing and joking, posting pics etc.

the problem started with your response to his request and worsened when other people got involved.

woof is a straight down the line man who has lived more and done more with his life than most people on here would do with 3 lives.

anyway i am sure he doesnt need me defending him,but i want to just set you straight on this belief that he was being petty, it was based on your response to his lighthearted request, and comments from others.

saying woof is not manly is a joke if you actually know the man and what he has done, are you aware he fought against the kmher rouge in cambodia, no mean feat,

i think a little respect should be shown mate as i think you have the wrong end of the stick on this one

Should have gone to Woof TBH.
But its none of my business anyway.

Maybe I'll come back in a few months maybe not.

Mmm,

Woof also took issue with Sabre as a mod here and didn't like it when I said Sabre being from Socidead and having affections for his home time club did not disenfranchise him from the mod job, which is largely a tedious administrative job where personal judgement and a level head and not football knowledge or allegiance is the defining factors. Sabre, in my opinion, is an excellent choice for moderator, and I am more qualified than most to give my opinion on this, given that I moderated here for almost two years.

I don't buy Ciggy's reasoning for her son coming on to this site as a reason for her not posting here any longer.

Unfortunately I seem to be the only person here who thinks that Ciggy and Woof have acted like spoiled brats over this. If they aren't happy with the decision of LFC to appoint Sabre as a moderator or so called "Wind up merchants" then they can vote with their feet and not post here, fine, thats their decision, but I kept my counsel manys a time as a moderator when Ciggy and Woof (and indeed others) got away with repeated rule breaking and childish hissy fits just because they are popular long time posters. I've witnessed both Ciggy and Woof giving people the sharp end of their tongue when things didn't go their way, abusive behaviour that has seen the likes of Stu banned numerous times.

I just was congratulating Ciggy for being honest, so there's no point in discussing personal details about his life,. All that is irrelevant. I respect all the posters just because they're LFC fans and post their views here, their private life is that, private, and I don't need private details about someones life to respect him as a poster.

There's something I don't get. And I like you or somebody explain me how it works. Dawson can comment that all mods are geeks. Or he can comment that I'm too nice to be mean.

Which is nice.

Stu tells me that I'm a top bloke, but I need to show a more aggressive face sometimes.

Which is nice.

Woof can describe me as a "Spanish bint" (with or without smileys), or compare me with the ferret of a budweisser advert,  he can call a RS flag a rag, and he can say "If I was face to face, I'd smack the cúnt (Sabre)". I can find quotes of woof towards me before and after "I started the problem", if you see what I mean.

Which is nice.

But then Sabre says "so fúcking what :D " and it's a terrible aggression? I just don't get it. It seems that this game has some strange rules "Sabre can receive stick, but he cannot fight back".

When Sabre says what he thinks he's not the harmless-always helpful-geekish-too nice to be mean anymore and he becomes a terrible aggressor? :)

I like to be helpful and I respect people by default. They don't need to fight a war to earn that respect, they have that respect just because of being Liverpool fans.

But Peewee, when someone talks about me and I don't like it, I have the right to answer back. I don't do that often, in fact, I'm known for being too nice. ut there's sometimes when you say enough is enough. If he treats me with respect, that's what he'll get, if he doesn't well, he'll face Sabre, the harmless-geekish-too nice to be mean fella. What's the problem? cannot be much worse than Pol Pot and Camboya, can it?  ???

P.S. After rereading my answer I don't want you get me wrong. Despite I think his private life is irrelevant for this forum matter, that doesn't mean I don't respect his deeds. In fact I have a good reason to not only respect but be grateful to the english military, my grandpa's life was saved by an english official that volunteered to come to Spain. It's very important for me, but it's irrelevant for this matter.

I usually do a pretty good job of staying out of spats on here coz at the end of the day we are all here to talk about footy but have to agree with most of these sentiments. Sabre is an excellent choice choice for mod (although he must be wondering why he accpeted the offer) and if others feel they need to leave the forum because they don't like the choice (or wanted the job themselves) then it's a bit sad in my book.

The forum is a bit flat at the moment but that's down to us having to feed off the scraps of international football just now. I hope Woof and Ciggy come back coz they are both good posters but i don't see much point in begging (unless of course they are logging in as guests and reading these posts?) and members come and go all the time. After all this is a discussion forum and not a club.

For what it's worth Sabre, i've got no problem with a non-UK resident who loves Liverpool FC but isn't technically a fan(wtf?) being a mod on a UK-based Liverpool Forum for mainly UK based fans completely gratis and getting pretty much little thanks for all the work ALL mods do.

Sorry, but I think anyone that starts having pops at the mods, be they new or other is a complete f*cking ingrate. Keep up the good work guys.  :buttrock
