Attic clearance - The hidden treasures

The Premiership - General Discussion

My mother has just moved from the house I spent 19 years of my life. When we cleared the attic it was full of old books Dandy,Beano,Victor,Battle;in fact you name it and she had it.Amongst the books were my football annuals shoot, who's who etc.and their hidden away was a small book by Jimmy Hill called "Improve Your Soccer" priced 6 shillings and dated 1966.It is a fascinating read on how Jimmy Hill can improve anyone's footballing ability and over the coming weeks and months I may dip into this "little bible" that taught me so much but never quite turned me into a proffessional.

Good for your Mum keeping all that stuff. Mine has not thus far been able to explain to my satisfaction where my classic Umbro flared LFC tracksuit and my Hitachi sponsored v-neck shirt circa late 70's have got to.

This saddens me greatly as I'd love to have them as part of my shirt collection I have amassed since leaving home.

I know how you feel about lost treasures, my mother 'disappeared' a pile of 'priceless' programmes from the fifties and sixties collected by me, my brother, and my dad. In fact my dad had some pre-war stuff(about the only good thing he left me), which my mother also managed to lose.
Mind you, I still have a signed photo of Billy Liddell that my Uncle Bobby got during the last season Billy played -and oh! yes, a Stanley Mathews football annual dated 1949 (should see the baggy shorts in that one). I was only 1 year old when that came out.

Another day when things have quietened down to a more sedate pace.
