What kind of problems mate? I promise not to be harsh if they're windows vista related. May we help?

Argh, I should be able to fix it if I have the time.

They can be summarised as follows, Sabre:

1.  I have Windows XP Home SP2. Two weeks ago windows update downloaded the latest updates from Microsoft and asked to reset the computer. As I was in the middle of something, I decided to postpone restarting. I then :censored: down the computer.

2. The next day when I turned on the computer the computer would boot to the black XP splash screen before resetting. I tried a number of things in an attempt to get it to start, such as trying to boot from "Last Good Settings that Worked", safe mode, everything, including disconnecting all USB devices etc. Nothing worked.

3. I therefore deduced that the error was caused by a corrupted Windows updated file or, as has happened in the past, problems with my ATI display driver and Dotnet.

4. I decided not to try repairing through the repair console but instead I decided to format and reinstall Windows from scratch, as I had been messing around with a lot of drivers in the past couple of months and I thought my random crashes were caused by corrupted drivers.

5. I reformatted and installed XP. No problems there. I then installed Windows Service Pack 2.

6. Everything was running clean as a whistle EXCEPT Service Pack 2 has messed up my WiFi. My computer cannot connect to the WiFi as Windows cannot allocate an IP address to my computer. Apparently this is a known fault of Service Pack 2.

7. As I badly needed access to the internet that night I decided to uninstal Service Pack 2. However, the computer crashed during the uninstal, causing corruption. My machine now loads slowly, and won't load Windows Explorer nor the Taskbar at all. :D I cannot even cut and paste although my WiFi works again.

8. I plan on reformatting and reinstalling Windows and Service Pack 2 again tomorrow, but I need to find out how to get my WiFi up and running. Any ideas Sabre?

Yes, first thing to try before using the cd of windows XP. (not sure if it will be too late, but worth a try)

There's a folder in the windows folder called repair. Just copy everything on it and paste it in the C:\windows and the c:\windows\system32 and reboot. Try always that before reinstalling windows xp next time (sometimes it's necessary to enter the folders via the recuperation console, but in your case its not necessary because you can load the OS)

I have an easy day at work, so I'll have a look on that known issue of IP assignment in the mean time.

Thanks Sabre.

As for Woof's point, I agree. I'm losing patience with Lost. It is all over the place and the 3rd series is, so far, frankly a mess, with too much emphasis on Sawyer, Jack and Kate, which is old and boring.

Its now got to the stage where some of the questions raised in series 1 still haven't been answered and when the show eventually gets around to answering them, people will have forgotten what the question was in the first place.

Also, this thing of taking a 3 or 4 month break in the middle of the series is a joke for a show like Lost. It's hard enough to keep track of everything as it is without forgetting what happened earlier in the series due to a break in the series. IMHO a show like Lost should be broadcast back to back in consecutive weeks, otherwise people will get even more confused that what they should and lose interest.

This break in the middle of a series thing seems to becoming more and more common in american shows .Sometimes it's for months and sometimes just a few weeks but either way it's a pain in the a'rse .

Lost
Heroes
Prison Break
Jericho

All decent shows that have inserted a break part way through a season . Why ?

To maximise viewing at what they consider to be windows of opportunity for "peak viewing"

Fu'ck 'em , f'ucking c'unts in their c'untish gated for c'unts only c'unt communities of TV scheduler c'unts . I'm tired of being treated like some tv addicted c'unt . I'm not f'ucking watching anymore , unless the missus makes me . The c'unt

(Can't wait for Deadwood to come  back  though . :D  )

Agreed. I think the producers took a hammering for the mid season break and in fairness to them admitted the mistake. Season 3's been a let down so far, they need to get back to the big questions - its a pity, as the end of season 2 was superb.

Ahh Alex brother, let not your heart be troubled..for you love this show really :D
How many times have we said we are are getting bored with it, but we are still here , still interested as to what is going on. I know the love triangle thing is getting boring, but it wont ruin it for me.
if anyone has gone off it, then the solution is -dont watch it.
Just call in here and we will keep you right as to whats happening.
