Road pricing

The government's proposal to introduce road pricing will mean you having to purchase a tracking device for your car and paying a monthly bill to use it.

>The tracking device will cost about £200 and in a recent study by the BBC, the lowest monthly bill was £28 for a rural florist and £194 for a delivery driver. A non working Mum who used the car to take the kids to school paid £86 in one month.

>On top of this massive increase in tax, you will be tracked. Somebody will know where you are at all times. They will also know how fast you have been going, so even if you accidentally creep over a speed limit you can expect a NIP with your >monthly bill.

>If you care about our freedoms and stopping the constant bashing of the car driver, please sign the petition on No 10's new website

Its about time the people of Britain all gave the government the two fingered salute. The problem with the us Brits is that we'll just moan about it, but do nothing.

Somehow something has got to be done.

For example, in Australia I think it was back in the 60's or 70's they introduced the T.V license. It lasted for a year or two because the whole of Australia basically said F.uck you !
Now they dont have t.v licences  :D

When I came over to Oz in 2003 a litre of petrol would cost a mere 35p  :O . Since then its gone up to about 55p, the week before last it went up to about 60p. So everybody had a big moan. (And they say the Poms are whingers, this lot make an art form out of it  :D ). And some big company (dont know who) said to the oil companies drop your prices or we'll expose your business to to the Australian public. So a week later the prices were dropped to 50-55p again.

The Aussies dont take things like that lying down, and if their prices of petrol are so low compared to Britain. I dont see why it should be, its got to be one of the most isolated westernised country in the world. Where the cost of shipping etc would surely bump up the price of fuel, yet its relatively cheaper than Britain where its got fuel more or less on its door step.......... well, you know what I mean.

For any Aussies who think their petrol is expensive, try 2.10c a litre.

in thailand we pay to use the expressways, its not expensive, roun bangkok you will just pay 40 baht (about 60p), and longer journeys outside bangkok can cost about 70 baht (a quid). you dont have to use the expressways, there are plenty of other traffic jams you can sit in.

oh and by the way, this is levelled by the fact that road tax is only about 20 quid for the year as is my insurance     :rasp
