Allrite Lads. Im from Dublin and support Liverpool all my life. I will be coming over to Anfield for the first time to see Liverpool Vs Chelsea on January 20th. I ended up paying way over the odds for a package deal to get a ticket to this game. As it is my first time over I am hoping yous can give me some advice of what I must see & do while Im in Liverpool. My first thing is I want to get some good clobber like Stone Island, Aquascutum, Henri Llyod ect... Weres the best place in Liverpool to go price wise......

Any advice yous have for my first time trip will be a great help.

Thanks
Mark

Nice Welcome Bunglemark :no

Hi SRFC1901,

Congratulations on getting tickets to the Liverpool Chelsea game. I hope you enjoy yourself and I can imagine the price you had to pay to get tickets for that off them robbing "package deal" bastards. Where are you sitting for the game mate?

Firstly can I please ask you to make sure you sing during the game, especially if your in the Kop. The Kop is a special place and many fans frown upon non singing fans in the Kop so please join in with the songs and you won't go far wrong. The atmosphere against Chelsea will be red hot so please do your part and get right behind the lads. If you don't know any songs please PM and I will send you the most popular ones. If you join in you will have a far better day!!

For the clobber  - Giancarlo Ricci or Trend by the MetQuarter are good shouts and reasonable prices, but theres a lot of good quality shops in Liverpool so you should have no trouble there. Also Storm is a very reasonable priced establishment so check that out.

I assume you will want to sample the night life, and there are many good bars and clubs in Liverpool. Stay away from the bottom end of Bold Street, all dives  . Concert Square good place to start and Matthew St  is a must.

Anyways have fun mate, and please remember to sing.

Bunglemark give the fella a break fer fu.cks sake

Welcome SRFC....I dont know much about shopping in Liverpool!!

But as Raffa said above Concert Square is good,i've only been a few times but you will always have a good night in The Walkabout..i did anyway.Theres loads of other clubs up there too!

If you like the Beetles or even if you dont go to the cavern club for a bit of history..its a dingy wee spot but has a strange atmosphere that you will enjoy...its in Matthew St

Theres also a Sports bar (i cant remember what its called) maybe Raffa D can help?

Its a great place to go before the game...good grub and loads n loads of screens to watch footy if its on(even in the loo). Also the waitresses are well hot and wear really short skirts with shirts tied above the midriff so ya can perv at their fit bellies while ya eat your grub!YUMI!!

Hope you enjoy...just out of interest how much did you pay for your package all in??

Fair play Raffa Dodd and Barry for taking the time to post a good reply and thanks very much for the info don’t worry being a fan of a Irish League team aswell means I know how much the match atmosphere and passion counts for the big games. Don’t worry im not like MOST irish people who would go over they aren’t real football fans there sky sports fans they know what its like to support a team week in week out. It would be a good help if you pm me some songs tho aswell coz I will sing my heart out. As much as Id love to sit in the KOP for the game the package tickets are for the Centenary Stand.....whats the atmosphere like in there?

Some boss boozers in Town.

First National and the Liverpool on James Street, also the Goose (The Queens) facing the First nash.  The Post Office as well by Bluecaot school.
The Exchange on Old Hall Street
Rigby's on Dale Street
Go up hardman Street as well.  Few decent gaffs up there.

They're all 'old man' boozers.  For the trendier types, visit the Albert Dock, plenty of posh bars there like Blue and others I'm assuming as I never go there, Newz on Water Street as well (although if you take my advice, you'll cut your own feet off before you walk in any of those bars).

Enjoy your trip.

ffs they are bringing you by boat and then putting you in airport at the hotel??  that doesnt make any sense, the airport is a ride out of town mate.

I stayed in the Holiday Inn when i was in Liverpool and it's an excellent hotel. The breakfats cost a bomb so just go to the St John's  shopping centre for McDonald's or something, it's literally right outside the front entrance of the Holiday Inn. Rooms are good, spacious, sky sports etc all that you could want. You can get free Internet in the business centre as well if and when it's free. Bar is ok as well.

The location is excellent, right across from Lime Street Station and within walking distance of all major tourist attractions. Anfield is easy to get to as well as the hotel's very close to the major bus station in Liverpool, where you can get a bus to right outside the ground no worries.

Any more info I'll be glad to help, Have a good time in the great city that is Liverpool :)

Edit: Sh!te, just noticed that it's Holiday Inn at JLA. Thats a fair way from town as peewee said, thats a little odd.
