i would like your feedback fellow newkitters....    i'm a self-employed financial adviser and have always just been a sole trader and traded under my name only

anyway i'm making some changes to the way i do things from january and i'm going to have a trading name. a lot of people in my situation will just trade as something like "smith financial" or "abc financial solutions" (fill in dull name as appropriate)

anyway i want a proper trading name, something contemporary but simple. so far i'm intending on trading under the name "square circle finance" as i think it meets the above criteria and also it suggests something along the lines of solving a problem (ever heard the expression "squaring the circle"?)

(there's also the added bonus of it being so simple an artistically retaded f*ckwit like me won't need to pay a graphic designer to think of a logo :D  )

anyway you're (generally :D ) a learned, bright and imaginitive bunch on here (you are LFC supporters after all ) so i'd welcome your feeback (negative and positive) about square circle and also any suggestions you may have

many thanks

as you know i work in finance mate, the name is important and needs to make a statement and invite trust.

as with law firms, finance companies should employ the owners names as the name of the company, such as 'smith barney' 'JP Morgan' etc etc etc.  it is always best to have 2 or 3 names. it is not advisable to just use initials.

you can also use a financial term such as 'equity' or 'growth' after a name.

I'd call it "Woolly money", and the tag line could be "Keeping your dough wrapped up."

Or "Pimp your Pennies". :D

Square circle sounds fine, mate. :D

square circle is good but isnt it a bit strange for a financial advisor? if you were called round peg advisors or something id get ti as round pegs go in round holes, but  square circle might be construed as something that cant happen and that could be sublimnally telling people that you dont know what you're doing

it is a cool name tho :D

square circle is very good for perhaps artistical agency etc. but sounds paradoxical in the trading circumstances in which consumer demands surety, stability etc.
so i advise

"shaggy bald" :D

joko you're a feckin legend mate :D

NB. it's mostly mortgage related stuff i do, as opposed to investments and tax planning, looking after huge sums of peoples money etc, i leave that to the fat grey sweaty blokes (*cough* peewee *cough* :D )

much of the stuff i do is mortgages that don't quite fit in the traditional pigeon hole, stuff like wierd & wonderful buy-to-lets, corporate motgages, very large mortages etc so it's like i'm solving a complex problem for them as opposed to just doing a job for them, hence why i like the "squaring the circle" thingy :)

I like Square Circle, but maybe Square/Circle indicates something more problem solving wise. How about Woolly's Wallet Stuffing Financial Shizzle? It has a certain J'ne Sizzle Quizzle.
