Liverpool had been a giant in europe for years, but i was a bit surprised being aware there was only one of its player having been voted in as the best european player ever, that was Owen.

I think that was because the Liverpool team of the bygone eras, especially the great team, was more of a collective group rather than one really outstanding superstar or player.

Having said that, I think Kenny Dalglish should have won at least once in '78 or '79 or '80 but then in '78 he had scored with a world class goal in the European Cup Final but Liverpool did not win the league and Scotland had a disasterous World Cup campaign.

Kevin Keegan made it twice in respective years, but those were for Hamburg.

If I am not mistaken, this award is controlled/organised by one of the French media - L'equip or something - and that explains the bias against the British league based players.

I thought that Henry or Pires deserved to finish above Zidane for 2003 (or is it 2002) as Real Madrid did not have a good year in 2002/2003 and of course, the past season was worse for them.
