Good tip for when you have been on the p!ss though!

I had one of these a couple of years ago.
It's interesting, 'cause you think you are going to choke, but you don't actually. :D

I didnt think I was going to choke, I just kept retching and gagging while they just kept saying breath in. They took some nice pictures though. :D

Glad I didnt opt for the sedation though, the bloke before me had that and had a really bad time.

Afterwards I wished I had been sedated as the paralising throat spray they used didn't do anything.
Had a sore throat and pains in the chest for days after.

Give me sedation any time. (Probably better if I am out of it...can't think too much then.) :D

The only thing the throat spray did was numb my tongue, they may as well not have bothered. I wouldnt have sedation  if I was you, the bloke before me did and when he came out, he was rushed off to another ward and all the nurses were upset.

Do they put you out ? I had sedation when I had a colonoscopy, but they didnt put me to sleep, they said it was just to relax me (didnt work!)

i once had an endoscopy op. they sedated me and i ended up ripping the pipe out because either: id been over sedated or b: i just would not swallow two foot of hosepipe for no-one. it ended up being cancelled..that was 4 years ago. and no wonder im constantly pilled up on gavilast now etc.. :(

no probs with me knee arthroscopy though  :D

I assumed they put you out with sedation, that's why I didn't have it as am always frightened I will not come round.

But changed my mind after the experience. I somehow forgot to breathe for like a couple of seconds and this doctor's shouting "breathe!",
whilst someone else is shoving this tube down my gullett, not very pleasant (hope I haven't put anyone off who's due to have it done!) :D

However from your recollections S@int, perhaps sedation is not the way to go.

At least I could stand up and walk out of the place afterwards.......just about....

Believe me you wouldnt! I felt like I had spent the evening as the sexual plaything of Lando, Judge and Rafa Dodd.

They also pump you full of air which makes you feel "uncomfortable" for hours.

i got intubated when i was ill a couple of years back. one minute i was watching sky sports at home, the next thing i knew was 3 days later i woke up in intensive care with a breathing tube, feeding tube, catheter and about 12 blood lines :wwww  having the feeding tube out wasn't too bad but the breathing tube was a nightmare, it felt like coughing up a length of drainpipe and left me with a proper sore throat. horrible. :no   the catheter wasn't too bad but i'm glad i was unconscious when the put the fecker in :wwww
