Freddie eastwood - How much and when?

The Premiership - General Discussion

Postby CardinalRed » Wed Nov 08, 2006 12:06 pm

Just listened to Southend Utd's Chief Exec' on Sky saying that Freddie Eastwood ain't for sale at any price.....
The lad's got 59 goals in 105 games, come January he'll probably be a target for some clubs. The questions are thus:

Will someone make a bid for him?
Will Southend sell him?
Which sorts of clubs are more likely to want him?
Oh, and, how much would he fetch?

Apparently there is already talk of Aston Villa putting in a 2m bid in January. Southend will have no option to sell him IMO. They need to strengthen their squad if they're to stay in the Championship, and realistically a 2m bid would turn into 3-4m with contract clauses, etc.

Southend aren't going to accept any bid under £5million, which is what they rate him as at the moment, I dare say they will ask for more come January, especially if someone like Arsenal or United take an interest.

This is an A1 example of just how over-priced english players are. Here's a fella that barely any fan has heard of outside of Southend and maybe the Championship; he scores one goal against the mancs and suddenly he's worth £5 million  ???  give it a break will ya (not aimed @ charmless man BTW :D ). Maybe after he's spent a couple of years proving himself at premiership level but for now I wouldn't pay anything more than £1.5m with clauses included.

ive seen the lad a couple of times and i must say, he impresses me. his hold up play is fantastic and yeah, its the bowels of the first division but Ashton,Zamora, Johnson et al....theyre all in the prem now..hes one for the future definately..as for £5 million now?  i doubt it...this season.

£4-5 Million is the going rate for a championship scorer, McShefery from Coventry went the B'ham for £4 Million, there was a bid from a unknown EPL team, that was for £3 million, but they pulled out.

Eastwood is impressive though, especially against ManU last night, but Southend will probably keep onto him until there's a good selection of other talent for them to pick from I reckon

This kid has been tracked for a couple of years now Rushie... He is well known in football circles and not just in Southend. I remember Kenny buying a striker from Oxford United a while back who's club prior to that had been Newport County, he turned out to be one of our best.... Oh, and your namesake came from Chester didn't he? It can happen as history shows!

Apparently freddie eastwood is a romany gypsy, so who ever buys him will have to find him a field to put his caravan and horse  :D
From Shankly to Brendan we follow our team, Rome to Istanbul we've all lived the dream. Our journey is long, our goal stays the same, to keep for our children the famous red name.

The good thing about Freddie Eastwood is that he'll cost a club about 3 million.

But he'll make that money back by selling pegs.
