spasmodic should mean the same as espasmodico in Spanish, that it's this kind of shaking violent moves that some people do under some circunstamces (drugs or whatever)

I was quite surprised the other day to read "charlatan" in this forum, because it's an Spanish word. Charla is chat, tan is a despective suffix applied to people.

As for Philibuster, in Spanish we have the word Filibustero, wich was copied from the french Flibustier. Those were the pirates that infested the caribbean seas in XVII century that sank French and Spanish vessels. The men that worked for the overseas independence also were called this way.
