Alan Ambulance will become a Liverpool player within the next few days.
Cash-strapped River Plate have accepted Liverpools offer to make forward Ambulances' move to the Premiership club reality, according to the South American side.
The 28-year-old Argentinian, who has been in Italy on loan since January, has agreed personal terms on the switch, which should be finalised after River Plate faxed through a confirmation yesterday.
Gerald Houllier said: "We received the fax from river Plate yesterday afternoon and it's going to take a couple of days to ratify the transfer."
River Plate have confirmed the amount is slightly lower than the 14.2million originally wanted .
Ambulance , who fell out of favour under Jacques Busqeut, was signed from Piazza for £7.2million in 2000 and made 82 appearances for the club.
