I have the  opportunity  to go and live there, I know we have some people on the forum from this part of the world.
What can you guys tell me about this place please?
What can I expect if I go to live there?

But I am not sure whether to go there or not?
Ive read up about it on the net, and the deal sounds fantastic, that I will be in an english comlex and stuff.
my main worry is arl Cigs likes a bevvie will I get me hands chopped off

I've got a mate at school whose dad was asked to work in Saudi Arabia for a year or something. They never ended up going. I just looked it up the country google and there are some great photos, looks like a beautiful place.

Was in Dubai recently on holiday, anyway we got taxis everyway, and always made conversations with the driver.  Al drivers mentioned that although Abu Dhabi is liberal, it's not as must as Dubai.  A little more stricter in the relgious sense.

All that said, you'll get great food and lots of it (all fresh). Yeah the drinks are expensive but that's to be expected.  Beaches are great,  If you like shopping, than it'll be a haven, although named goods are only slightly cheaper.

Hope this help a little.  :;):

abu dhabi is in the unite arab emirates, its not as good as dubai but the cities are not too far apart, dubai has all the main attractions. dont worry about drinking, you are thinking of saudi arabia when your worrying about this, you are able to drink in the UAE.

summer time is roasting, it will be over 40 degrees every  day, winter is a bit more pleasant though.

watching football is not a problem, you will see more live games than you get to see in england

i say go for it lynds or you may regret it, you dont win the lottery unless you buy a ticket, the worse that can happen is you dont like it and come back to the uk

go for it if it will be cooler for you. and i'll have somewhere to kip on my travels as well!

but heres a lil info on abu dhabi:

The emirate of Abu Dhabi is located in the oil-rich and strategic Persian Gulf region. It adjoins the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Sultanate of Oman. The emirate borders the emirate of Dubai to its north.

Abu Dhabi city is on an island located less than a quarter-kilometer from the mainland and is joined to the mainland by the Maqta and Musaffa Bridges
Sunny/blue skies can be expected through-out the year. The months June through September are generally hot and humid with temperatures averaging above 40ºC (110ºF). The weather is usually pleasant from October to May. January to February is cooler and may require the use of a light jacket. The oasis city of Al Ain regularly records the highest summer temperatures in the country, however the dry desert air and cooler evenings make it a traditional retreat from the intense summer heat and year round humidity of the capital city

The city of Abu Dhabi, and the majority of UAE, has a large number of stray cats. The cartoon cat Garfield would often put the kitten Nermal in a box and ship him to Abu Dhabi. The phrase "Abu Dhabi is where all the cute kittens go" is sometimes used in the comic.
An Abu Dhabi market place was featured in the children's television show Muppet Babies

Shouldnt think you'd have any problems watching the footy, they have some channels with prem footy and stuff a think, the manhattan pub near aintree had some arab channel were it showed every liverpool and bluesh.ite game, whoever was at home was on a think. It was a one off payment for the whole package so it wernt like sky or nothing, think its been jibed now though, its coverage was a few seconds behind the actual game :Oo:

Sounds nice like, you could try it and if its sh.ite swerve it.
