Austin Powers - Scouse Proud

While the penalty shootout was underway during that magical night in Istanbul, Hollywood star Mike Myers - better known as Austin Powers - left his seat at the Ataturk stadium and told fellow Liverpool fans "I’m sorry I just cannot watch."
However, once the Champions League trophy was won for the fifth time, Myers was one of many Liverpool fans throughout Istanbul and the world who partied the night away.
Despite being born in Ontario, Canada, in 1963 the comic genius says his offbeat humour is the legacy of his Scouse parents, Eric and Bunny who hailed from the Old Swan area of Liverpool.
Mike grew up in a very English household in Canada and he insists there's nobody more Scouse than a Liverpudlian who no longer lives in Liverpool. “My dad filled the house with brass horses and stuff about Liverpool football Club," he says. "The folks from back home would send over Beatles boots, clothes and even albums. I was the only kid in Toronto to wear an olive-green Nehru jacket and support Liverpool FC."
In the movie Goldmember, Mike introduced Austin's dad, Nigel Powers, hilariously performed by Sir Michael Caine. The resemblance to Mike's father was totally deliberate.
“I wrote Michael Caine a very long, beggy,

“Michael Caine is exactly like my real father was, but with a Southern English accent. My dad had a Liverpool accent. We ended up finishing each other's sentences and being this little nation of two. Shame he doesn’t support Liverpool.”
Myers would love nothing more than a kick about with the Liverpool team. He would be willing to turn down the next multi-million dollar script to come his way just for the opportunity. He said: “I would choose playing football with the team over a film script - it's a once in a lifetime thing.”
You never know, Mike may turn away the amount of Hollywood stars asking for a cameo in one of his movies - as you may well be seeing the likes of Steven Gerrard, Momo Sissoko, Rafa Benitez and Xabi Alonso in Austin's next big screen outing!
