The Premiership - General Discussion

Postby The Ace1983 » Sat May 06, 2006 7:58 pm

This year we lose three important premiership figures who have lead the line for their prospective clubs and have entertained us so many times.

Alan Shearer - Legend. No other way to discribe him really. He's never been flash. He's never been a flair player. He's a proper English striker and he does exactly what it says on the tin when it comes to goalscoring. Genuine, talented, local lad done good and a giant of the game.

Dennis Bergkamp - The master of flash and flair. Ronaldhino without the tricks and an excellent fixture of the league that will be missed. He was the perfect example of that dutch art of "total football" and though his best years were some time ago now, he's still a real legend of the game and he can still show why.

Duncan Ferguson - :censored: off and don't come back.

There was a sly little rumour going round a year ago that Shearer was thinking of joining us for his swansong.  I'm pretty sure he was using us as a pawn in his negotiations for a new contract with Newcastle though.  Might have been worth a go if he was serious though.  I know he's about 85 now but he can't have been any worse than Cisse or Morientes.

Bergkamp has always been a player I've admired.  When he was around the 29-31 age, he was brilliance personified, a player at his peak.  He's still got it now at 36?  37?  What is he?  Still hope Arsenal lose the Champions League final though, I don't wish him any luck in the final.

Not even talking about Drunken's footballing talents.  The only thing I can say is that I like the way he beat the shit out of those burglars.  My brothers mates are personal friends of Ferguson.  My brothers have met him at weddings and parties etc...  They said he's not a bad fella to be honest.  Good riddance to him though.  I've no time for Everton, unless it's laughing at their misfortune.

I've got a little bet on that he'll be back at Rangers in the Summer. He may not be retiring (but we can always hope), I just can't see anyone in the premiership wanting him.

Alan Shearer – Yeah, a legend, respect for choosing the team you love over guaranteed trophies. But maybe went on for a bit too long, and I was bit annoyed the way he got into a huff and puff when the FA were going to ban him for stamping on Lennon, he got away with it if I remember, he also got more and more thuggish is his play as he got slower and immobile, but over all legend.

Bergkamp – One of my favourite players, helps the play move on so effectively with the littlest of touches, hardly holds on to the ball but does so much with it. Has been a pleasure.

BIG DUNC – Thugish :censored:.

Duncan Ferguson career highlights:

1. FA Cup winner in '95

2. Getting a full 90 minutes  on the pitch

3. Lasting 90 minutes on a football pitch without getting sent off.

4. Turning out for the Scottish Prisons first 11.  :D

5. Going a full season without Twatting one of his own team mates.

A truly glittering career  :D

I repeat  the sentiment already expressed, i certainly miss Shearer and especially Bergkamp whose exploits will echo in eternity. The premiership will be certainly miss them from pure footballing sense
As for Duncs the only time he will be remembered in a few years time will be on the All time Football biffos compliation clips DVDs

(put on dramatic American accent)
Next time on "Football's Biggest Idiots": The man who will fight his own team mates for no apparent reason,... when he's not fighting everybody else!! See him last 7 minutes on the pitch. Watch in horror as he mistakes the grass for a boxing ring! And revealed, the men stupid enough to keep him on the pay roll. That's next time on "Football's Biggest Idiots"!
