Ynwa at fulltime vs. benefica

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby Morth » Fri Mar 10, 2006 1:17 am

Sorry to make a new thread out of this mates, but the way our fans sang YNWA at the end there was one of my strongest memories around LFC ever.  It showed me why I'll always be a Red and why Chelsea and the others will never have what we have.  Pure class.

The CL win was enormous, fantastic and it really did have everything you could ever ask for in a football match, but for all its flaws and fustrations, that wedensday will always live on for me.  What other fans in the world would pay such a homage after a fustrating loss?   I was touched to the brink of tears I'll tell you.

So, to conclude this akward and slightly soft thread, can anyone provide me a clip of the last few minutes where the kop sang its heart out?  It would be much appreciated.

Always a red.

Totally agree, when I heard our fans singing that, I completely forgot about the result and actually started smiling and thinking about the competition last season. If it was any other team 2-0 down with 5 minutes left, the whole stadium would be eerily quiet but hearing YNWA made the whole thing easier to deal with. It's one of the reasons I love this club so much.

I felt exactly the same way when i heard that after the 2nd goal went in, i thought i was the only one who that had hit so strongly..made me so proud to support the greatest club in the world, made me think of the success of last season and that we will be back once more to fight again.

Totally agree, I also like the way we applauded our players and the benfica players off the pitch, then those in the main stand (including myself) turned to the Benfica fans and both sets of fans applauded eachother. You don't forget things like that. It showed how good a fans we really are. The papers even noted it!!!

Yeah, results and silverware might come and go, but that kind of class will always stay.  That's why we'll remain one of the greatest clubs in world football 100 years from now.

The most poignant YNWA's seem to be when we lose.

The one at the end of the 1988 FA Cup Final will always stay in my memory.

Liverpool Football Club are the greatest in the world.

LFC supporters are the best, bar none.

Yeah, you win some and lose some. That's football.

But there's always another day and another season.
