Disgraced Rock Star Gary Glitter has been found guilty of sexually abusing 2 young Vietnamese girls and has been jailed for a total of 3 years in a Vietnam jail.
When he finishes his sentence he will be deported back to the UK to face further charges during his time in this country.
If you ask me they should have shot the b@stard

Abuser Glitter jailed for three years

Gary Glitter has been sentenced to three years in a Vietnamese jail after being found guilty of molesting two children.

On hearing the verdict, the former rocker shouted: "I haven't done anything. I'm Innocent. It's a conspiracy." He will be deported on his release.

During the brief two-day hearing, Glitter, 61, whose real name is Paul Francis Gadd, denied fondling the ten and 11-year-old and taking showers with them naked.

He may be considered for release after serving a third of his jail term, which includes the four months he has been held in custody since his arrest.

In addition to the prison sentence, Glitter has been ordered to pay 5m Vietnamese dong - about £180 - to his victims' families.

Glitter has been held by police since November when he was caught at the Ho Chi Minh City airport trying to board a flight for Bangkok. Police confiscated his laptop, which had hundreds of pornographic pictures on it.

The girls' families wrote to the court in December, asking that charges be dropped altogether after Glitter paid $2000 (£1,140) to each of them.

Although prosecutors decided to move forward with the case anyway, under Vietnam's legal system, the payments are considered compensation that counts toward lessening any sentence.

Glitter was convicted of possessing child porn in Britain in 1999 and served half of a four-month jail sentence.

He later went to Cambodia, which permanently expelled him in 2002.

No offense to the jury, but the man should have been jailed for life. He left Great Britian because of his perverse love for children and was caught on. He went to a country that has no laws to protect children, who are abused on a daily bases. Families in these countries probably hire their kids out to make money, and Glitter knew this before he arrived there. It was easy picking for him and because of his so called "celebrity status", he was made welcome. He also had thousands of pictures on his computer, off god knows how many different kids. What I would love to know, are any of the kids British? And if they are, he should be brought here to face the courts. He states that he is an innocent man, but what innocent man would have child poronography on their computer. He claims he was set up. Oh he was set up alright, by himself. He was being watched by the worlds press every day. How long did he think he was gonna get away with it? As far as I'm concerned the man is a dirty and should be made to pay for what he has done. I hope that when he is deported that the British goverment do the right thing and jail the fecker for the rest of his life........................

the latest news was the family had dropped their charge for -verbally admitted, money. The family reported had received some of what they call "the initial payment".

yes glitter is a disgrace but i wish people would get their facts straight before ranting about things they dont really understand.

cambodia, vietnam, thailand all have laws to protect children from sexual abuse, the problem is lack of enforcement as opposed to lack of laws. kazza if cambodia has no laws how can glitter be convicted? you cant be convicted of nothing. think about what you write. also your comment that familes in these countries probably hire their kids out is a disgraceful thing to say. some families do but your comment is hinting that its common practice when the figure is probably more like 0.1% of the population. people here are not that that different to the west. good and bad everywhere.

also its true that glitter paid money to the families involved, and the families then wrote to the police asking for the charges to be dropped. the police dropped the rape charges, not because the families asked them to, but because the young girls were prostitutes. the parents were aware of this (this was admitted by the police involved).  and this may come as a shock but there are just as many youngsters being abused in the UK as there are here in asia, the difference is the police in UK are more efficient, thats why pedos come to asia because its easier for them to act in their disgusting manner.

yes the man is scum and deserves all the bad treatment he gets but get your facts straight before you read the written in the english tabloids

Let him get raped by the inmates at his jail however many times he did it to a kid, then beaten to death.

Even then the fecker should count himself lucky.
