Didn't Real Madrid actually sack their coach after he won them the Champions League?  That says all you need to know about the idiots running the club...hope they make a £50m bid for Cisse this summer ;)

It's a well known fact that the president - Florentino Perez - has stated that he wants to turn real madrid into the footballing equivalent of the Disney empire (according to skysports la liga commentators). Well IMO sacking a european cup winning coach a couple of days after the final and continuing with a policy of buying big headed players who can't gel together and then blaming the coaches and sacking them one after the other does make Real Madrid abit of a mickey mouse operation.  :p

Many in Madrid have started to criticise this model. No matter how many money you spend, if you don't bring titles, there will be unrest in Madrid.

Of course you cannot gel that together. If you have a Robinho, Ronaldo, Raul, and Zidane, and Guti on the field, tell me who'll recover a ball. Ah, no problem, Florentino thinks, we buy  hard man like Gravesen and a British like Woody and that's solved. No, because in todays football all the team must attack, and all the team must defend. I mean, even Baresi in his best would have troubles in nowadays Real Madrid, they must find a balance ASAP. Camacho tried to do that, and they didn't let him, so he went 3 weeks after starting to be coach of Real Madrid.

Any club that passes up the chance to sign Ronaldinho because 'he is too ugly' is clearly heading for the knacker's yard  :D

Real Madrid's problems are they buy a team of individual players which make up a great team on paper but in reality might or might not work. Instead of signing players where they need to in order to improve their system or add to it, they sign players which will attract more supporters and sell more shirts.

This whole buying "talented inviduals" and making them work was successful from about 1998 - 2002 but since then has gone down the pan. If they ever want to be a dominate force in Spain 'n' Europe again then they need to sign players who will improve the team 'n' make it stronger, not buying players in order to sell shirts.

It would also help if they didn't change managers every season, that is also what's stopping Madrid from becoming a great team again.

However I'm not bothered, my favourite Spainsh team is Valencia :D

No way Baresi would have struggled, Baresi, Beckahnbeaur, Moore, John Charles etc would all have adapted to current day football and be quicker, fitter, tactically more astute than they actually were in their day.

On second reading, I think you meant that a "team" defends - fair enough. I thought you meant Baresi wouldn't be able for it.
