Good 'un Murphy. I'd say Cisse although I admit I haven't seen that much of him apart from a few bits on satellite. But comparing price tags (I've heard figures around £4m for Smith) maybe Smith would be the better option. Either of them would be better than Emile "First touch like a lampost" Heskey

Cisse,........ There's something about Smiths character that I don't like.  Maybe it's the immaturity of the guy. Anybody know how many red and yellows he collected ? :(

I think smith would be great for us. We need players that have the passion he shows. The only players in the team like that at the moment are Carra and Stevie.

I think he would be a great partner for owen or even play him at rightmidfield if we needed cover. But i think we should be looking to buy Malbranque for the right side

Not sure how many, but certainly plenty. His discipline seems to have improved recently but he's still a bit of a hot-head. Strangely enough he's supposed to be the model professional off the field.  ???

I like Smith a lot but his goals to games ratio isn't so hot. We need a player to come in and score 15-20 goals a season to take some of the pressure away from Mikey. Only time will tell if Cisse is the player to do that.

Good point Scottbot but hasn't he been playing on the right of midfield for most of this season and last?

I hope cisse does well, but i can see whats going to happen.  Oh look another french player who will need at least a season to settle in.  We need players for  next season.  An Smith has that experience.

I have just heard on sky sports Leeds want 10 million for Smith.  Whats the deal with Cisse its around 14 million in it.  Id have smith for the ten and use the other 4 million to strenghten the defense.

I happen to think we have got to many foriegn players at the club.  Who run around like wet lettuce's and get payed mega books for doing practically fuckall.   We need more english blood, an as for smiths yellows and red cards thats all down to the lads enthiusiasm for the game.  If you look at all the greats in the prem other the last 10 years they all pick up yellows and reds, its just down to giving 110 percent.

Even playing up-front all season i don't think Smith has managed more than the 17goals he scored for Leeds during their Champ league Semi-final season. I like him as a player and shan't complain if we went for him but i'm not sure sure he is the man to really take the pressure that has built up season by season on Mikey's shoulders.

Come on, whats all this cr#p I keep hearing about needing more english players in the side?  whats needed isn't a player from a particular country or region.  Talent matters, place of birth is immaterial.  Look at Arsenal, how much of there first XI is english?  Not much by my count and what did they win this season?  The Premiership, Man U can have the FA Cup, its way less important than the premiership.  Chelsea has a fcukload of non-english players too and they are above Man U in the Premiership too and are in the Semi-final of the Champions League (in fact other than the few first XI players of Chelsea who are English are their any English players left in the CL at all?).  Man U is third and they have more English players in their first XI than the other two and they're third.  I'm not baggin english players here, don't get me wrong.  But saying we should get a particular player just because they're English or british is ridiculous.  We should be able to celebrate talented footballers no matter where they come from.  The magical magyars would say amen to that.

Peace Yo

Oh yeah, i think Cisse

Why do we have to have just one can't we buy them both? And get rid of some of the dead wood like Smicer and Heskey

alan smith is not what we need. cisse is the better option. we need a 20+ goalscorer which is what smith is not unfortunately. great player, tireless, aggressive, but doesn't put the ball in the net frequently enough.

What was wrong with Anelka???
What is wrong with Hasslebaink?
Smith??? have you seen the goal scoring stats from the past two years? ???
Baros is fine,,, some strong midfield play  and the service that comes with it is what is needed,,, never mind baros and Owen they are fine,,,,,,

I'd prefere Cisse becuase he seems more pacey and does the goal business on the pitch as of what I have seen and heard :p
