peewee wrote:mate you would have laughed, we had to fly to hat yai in southern thailand then get to satun to get ferry to langkawi.
one the way back we haggled with some guy to take us to hat yai from satun and he assured us he had a taxi and would charge us 400 baht. anyway i have a picture of the car, i will post it when i know how, it was a mercedes 200 that was older than me, the windscreen had a bullet hole in it and one wiper, the guy drove at i dont know what speed as the speedo was stuck on 80kmh and i swear he was suicidal, it was the longest hour of my life.
as you know southern thailand has a lot of troubles at the moment and there are army checkpoints every few miles which in itself was worrying and the car had to start breaking about half a mile before each checkpoint to be certain of stopping. then to cap it all it started raining, me and my bird were laughing that the one wiper he had wouldnt work, but we were ok and it squeaked across the screen very slowly, it was also dark at this point. it was a white knuckle ride mate but an experience not to be missed.
