risse will be a red for a long time,he is only 23 years old and a  excellent versatile left sided player,a rarity these days, and with it being a squad based game today rafa knows how important he is and will give him a contract extension in the forseable future i'm sure

Yep a lot of the deadwood has been weeded out at last, but I still feel we are only about half way through our rebuilding.  In terms of personnel the squad is better than the one Houllier left behind.

But the real difference is in terms of mentality.  We didn't go into games looking to win them under Houllier, we went out to not get beaten.  Under Benitez I like our approach.  Our ability to break teams down at Anfield is better and our sense of when to sit back and when to press while away from home is spot on at the moment.  Benitez goes into every game with a plan to win it, just like a team like Liverpool should.

A few things to add CGGY, I don't think Pongolle is going anywhere, he's a good player and I hope he gets a chance under Benitez.  Cisse is gone, contrary to what Benitez says in the press, it's obvious Cisse was dropped for the Sunderland game because of his antics when subbed the previous game.  Why would you rest a player who only starts about 50% of the games anyway?  He was dropped for his attitude, simple as.  And if we can find a replacement for him in January and someone is willing to pay about 7-8 mil for Cisse then Benitez will sell him.

If we get defensive cover in, a good winger or 2 and a quality frontman then we will be a lot closer to Chelsea.  But I'm liking the progress we've made.

But just how many players have left since Rafa has taken over? or gone out on loan.
Baros, Diouf, Welsh, Cheyrou, Diarra, Smicer, Biscan, Henchoz, Partridge, Smyth, Wright, Vignal, Otsemobor, Kirkland, Murphy, Diao, Le tallec and Dudek is also on his way.

Thats 18 players that I can think of at the moment, theres probably more, maybe only Alou Diarra might have done well in midfield for us under Rafa, but for the rest of them they wouldnt walk into any top teams in europe.

And all the players that leave Liverpool Football club never go on to better things, Milan Baros must be kicking himself that he didnt do better for us, one minute a european champion the next getting beat by Doncaster in the Carling Cup 3-0 and at a club that plays for just enough points to keep them in the prem every season.

Now with the rumours of tantrums, dummys being spat out prams etc, Djibril Cisse since the summer transfer window an exit has looked on the cards, and Pongolle the last day of the transfer window was close to signing for Marseille, cause he was on the second flight back from Istanbul missed the parade, and didnt get a winners medal so he wanted to leave only Rafa convinced him to stay.

Now it looks like he is going to Real Betis, and Cisse looks like he's heading back to France, Riise hasnt been given a new contract.
Fat Sam wants Hamann in January but I feel its a must that we keep Didi till atleast the end of the season, our midfield general is one of our most underated players, he is one of my favourites.

I just feel Rafa is weeding most of Houlliers buys out, a new CD will come in and we will probably see less of sammi once the new arrival is here.
Im not including Gerrard and Carra in this cause they came through the ranks as did warnock.

I have to trust Rafa cause he's brought us so much success in such a short time, but I am worried if Cisse and Pongolle do leave, that it leaves us with Crouch, Morientes and Mellor if no new striker arrives.

Every new manager wants to mold his own team, and its amazing how many rubbish players we actually had on our books for such a big club, there was enough money spent to have a few world class players instead of buying 10 mediocre players, quality not quantity.

Rafa is at the helm and things are looking good people the futures bright, the futures red.

I have to disagree with you abotu Riise. He has aslways been one of our top performers and even under Benitez he is excelling even more. He is good as passing, crossing and you dont need me to tell you that hes one of the best in the Prem at shooting. But i will anyway. Lest you forget that he scored the winner against Man City and nearly scored another spectacular one against Sunderland the other night. I will be dissapointed if he leaves and im sure he wont. Rafa knwos he is a good player and that is why he always uses him in the important matches to rest him and keep him fully fit. Im sure he wil be rewarded with a new contract soon.

???  Hey what ya talkin about mate, I love Riise, I have never said anything about him.
He is having off the field problems this is the reason why he hasnt been offered a new contract, if he sorts out his problem he probably will get offered a new contract.
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

My own feeling:

1. Hamman won't be sold to Bolton or anybody else in January. He may decide to return to Germany next summer.
2. I think Benitez rates Riise highly as a player. I've heard mutterings about Riise's private life but not a whole lot.
3. Josemi will almost certainly be sold to a Spanish club next summer.
4. Jerzy Dudek is desperate to go but rumour has it Liverpool want to hold onto him until the summer.
5. I'd be very surprised if Anthony Le Tallec ever played for Liverpool again. I think he will be sold very cheaply to a French club next summer.
6. Djbril Cisse is a soap opera waiting to happen. He'll score around 20 goals this season but will be sold for about £7m to £8million next summer.
7. It is almost certain that Simao Sambrosa will joing Liverpool in January.
8. Florent Sinama Pongolle will likely be loaned out at some stage - Rafa denies it will be to Betis - but I could see him off on a season long loan next year.
9. I think Liverpool might make a serious attempt to sign Steven Piennar on a Bosman.

After that its very difficult to predict what Rafa will do in the transfer market. I'm certain next summer he'll make another Peter Crouch type signing in the Premiership. What I mean by that is Rafa might well buy a player we all know from the Premiership but none of us particularly rates.

I must presume you live in another country and do not go the game.

Riise has been awful this season, and one run can not hide that fact.

He was garbage against Man City, absolutly dire.

Bit OTT there Leon!
He aint exactly shi.te either!Ok he has not been at his best this season i agree! But its been said he has a few personal problems and footballers are only human and at times their personal lives are reflected on the pitch!
Riise will be back and he is a crucial squad player and i think valued highly by Raffa and the squad!

Hope he gets his sh.it together and we see the best of him soon!

Well Leon, with all humbleness, let me point out that in last game he threw a nice shot, and run important km in minute 70, when others weren't running so much.

In previous game, he scored against Manchester City.

Accomplished well as a LB, against Betis.

I wouldn't say it's just one game! I also saw decent crosses.

Not that he has been brilliant, but neither was the team, but in this winning games in a row, Riise was in the starting eleven, something good must have Rafa seen in his performances
