RAHMAN HANDED WBC BELT
Thursday 10th November 2005

Hasim Rahman has been named the new WBC heavyweight champion following the retirement of Vitali Klitschko.

The World Boxing Council voted to declare the 33-year-old 'interim champion' the new title-holder.

WBC president Jose Sulaiman said: "The WBC has received a majority voting of the board of governors to declare Hasim Rahman the undisputed WBC heavyweight champion of the world.

What a joke!
I remember when boxers had to win a fight to be crowned world champion. Surely there should be a fight to win the vacant title - like when Lewis retired.
Is this another case of the WBC favouring Don King fighters?
