Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby florida_red » Tue Nov 08, 2005 10:11 pm

cggy, while I can't be sure of what opinion he would have about the ground share, he seems to be a class act.  He understands how organizations need to carry themselves, and especially if he is a liverpool fan, I am pretty sure that he would understand how terrible of an option groundsharing would be to any true fan.  He is definitely not abramovich, nor is he a Glazer.  From every indication that I have gotten of the man's character, he wouldn't do anything to alienate that which makes the club what it is, the fans.... Anyways, just speculation but I believe this would be great, and he would do everything he could to avoid a "glazer" scenario like what happened at ManUSA

David Moores owns 51 procent of the club, will he just buy Moores's share or buy the whole club?

I think he might just buy Moores' share

Can I ask the guys over in the US if he would be in favour of a groundshare if he took over, would he understand that we are totally against such a scenario?

Impossible question to answer really. But he expanded New Englands stadium by 8 thousand seats and is now better designed than it was before I believe.

I agree with Florida Red, the Kraft family is one of the most honorable and class acts in US sports.  I am a Redskin fan, and while my owner is printing money, he is a :censored: when it comes to professionalism.  Any involvement from Bob Kraft in LFC would be a possitive, IMO.  He is active through out New England in charities and development, and he is fully commited to putting a winning product on the field.  He is not involved in sports to make money, cough cough Glazer cough cough, he is in it for the Silverware.

Sounds prominsing. I am all for some sound investment in the club by a committed businessman, who has the best interests of the club at heart.

Not like Glazer, who wants to turn Manchester United into a brand name liek McDonalds, and not like Abramovich, who is a criminal. Parry and Moores will only allow investment if is in the best future interests of the club, and I'm sure they will make sure the Kraft family understands the traditions of the club, and the feelings of the fans.

Kraft has always been my favorite choice if a takeover was neccessary.  I live on the US and have always been a colts fan.  a rivalry sprung up between the patriots and the colts, so naturally I hated the pats.  But after about 2 years I found it impossible to hate them anymore because they are a team run on values.  They work as a team, and don't have any money hungry players.  They all play for the "badge", and their commitment can never be questioned.  Take Tedy Bruschi for instance, he had a stroke in the off season and he wroekd hard and actually made his season debut 2 weeks ago.
Kraft also bought the Patriots when they had a joke of a stadium, one of the first things he did was build a state of the art showcase, that is easily one of the best stadiums in the nation.  This stadium definitely put a dent in his pocket, but he did it for the fans, and in the ends thats who the club is supposed to serve.

L-Type I remember you talking about Kraft when there were reports last season about him being interested. If anyone has questions about Kraft, ask L-Type, he's the expert :D

hate to blow your bubble -- no cheese sponsorship -- he's not an heir - i believe he'sinto packaging

if pool is to be sold the kraft group is an excellent choice -- no poolusa or poolski here -- these guys are class and he just built a state of the art stadium so don't worry about a groundshare -- he knows how to make a stadium work

actually he may be involved to help get the stadium done -- it may not be a sale -- there is a bond -- they didn't hire nichol for nothing

When I first heard about the Kraft link some time ago, I did quite a lot of digging to see what kind of people they are. To be honest, I couldn't find anything to make me think that they wouldn't be perfect. Their involvement in New England has been very professional, and at the right times very discreetly conducted, which is something I've always been proud of in our club's history. They don't court the press, but at the same time they're definitely not the weird-as-f**k reclusive types like Glazer.

So yeah, if it is to happen, you can be happy that they're doing it for a genuine love of football and a genuine and deep-rooted affection for LFC. And not to consolidate their debts. :D

Long, long way to go, obviously, but my fingers are definitely crossed that something comes of this. :)

Liverpool in investment talks with Kraft family Nov 9 2005

By Ian Doyle Daily Post Staff

LIVERPOOL have been in fresh talks with the US-based billionaire Kraft family over possible investment into the club.

Anfield chief executive Rick Parry met with Robert Kraft in America on Monday for discussions over a stake in the European Champions.

It is understood naming rights over the proposed new stadium on Stanley Park have also been deliberated, with Liverpool looking to offset the spiralling costs of the delayed 60,000-seater project.

Parry was a guest of Kraft at the NFL game between Superbowl champions New England Patriots - which the Kraft family owns - and Indianapolis Colts, which the Patriots lost 40-21.

Parry is expected back on Mersey-side today and while no proposal has yet been received, further talks are expected.

The Kraft family were the main backers of the L4 consortium - fronted by Hollywood executives Stuart Ford and Woolton-born Mike Jefferies - which earlier this year abandoned an attempt to buy a stake in to Liverpool.

They also own Major League Soccer team New England Revolution, which they purchased in 1994, and have a long-standing interest in football.

Liverpool's stance over naming rights for their proposed new stadium has softened in recent times, particularly in light of Arsenal's astonishing £100million deal with Emirates to sponsor their new ground at Ashburton Grove, which is due for completion this summer.

Earlier this year Parry said: "I have to say historically it is something I have been against, and I have been on record as saying that, but I think the size of the Arsenal deal is a real eyeopener.

"I would say in the past deals have been done frankly far too cheaply and it just hasn't even been worth contemplating. But the Arsenal deal is the sort of deal that causes you to draw breath and say 'wow - that's interesting.'

"I recognise it would be an emotive issue for many supporters, but you look at the amount of money available and it could go into the team.

"If it was the right partner how strong an issue is it? Time will tell.

"I think the stadium will always be Anfield, not least because of where it is, but do we need to investigate the possibilities of sponsor-ship? I think it would be remiss not to.

"That's not to say we have made a decision that we will go down that road, but I think it is clearly something we have to explore."
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

Kenny Dalglish 1/2/2011

REST IN PEACE PHIL, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN.
