Im probably gonna get hammered for this, but here goes nothing!

Liverpool are ready to hijack Cicinho's 7 million transfer to Manchester United.

The Sao Paulo full-back, dubbed the new Cafu, met United boss Sir Alex Ferguson last week for talks over a move to Old Trafford.

But Cicinho, who is awaiting an Italian passport to speed up the deal, says Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez has made a last-ditch move for him.

Cicinho said: "Manchester United are a great club that challenges for trophies but I have also heard Liverpool are now interested. It's a matter for my agents."

Might be a decent signing, saw him in the confederations cup and looked extremly impresive although we do have finnan and joesmi. Benitez might try to convert him into a right winger though.

I for one wouldnt mind a bit of brazilian flair and speed!

And theres nothing more fun then stealing a man utd target!

Shouldnt be too much problems with the work permit either, his played a fw games for brazil i think and im sure there in there in the top 100, or whatever the limit is. :laugh:

I wouldnt get my hopes up though, probably an attempt of screwing more money out of the Mancs

Sounds good and if he is as good as cafu then he will be a great signing .

Rafa probably see`s him a right midfielder untill a top class winger becomes available then he could drop back to right back maybe .

I can understand your fustrations but i was pretty excited when i read it, and it must of been the adrliling

I apologise but to be fair it did come from his mouth, there is a quote not just poor journalism.

the guy's an excellent player but is basically a right winger masquerading as a right full back. great going forward but can't really defend (hardly surprising being brazilian).

would be a good addition on the right side of midfield if you ask me.

As far as defending goes, he's average at best but going forward he's lethal. He's played as a RB and as a RM for both country and club.

I've seen cicinho play and for a FULL BACK yeah he is lethal at attacking but for a WINGER his attacking skills are average. Sort of in the riise type of mould.

Im sure if you saw a compilation of riises best bits (and you didn't know who he was) you would probs be thinking the same about him as you do of cicinho. You see the clip st mick, cicinho aint done nothing there that riise hasn't. I do agree though that cicinho is a good player but is he the wide right player that were looking for.

Nicking players can backfire. ManUre nicked Diego Forlan.

Still, the deadline is looming and we really do need a right-sided midfielder.
