What would be the difference in having Duff/Swp ,Ljunbreg,C.Ronaldo and then Solano to pick from?

The first four are considerably better than Solano that is the sort of quality we need out on the right.

Also any four of them would suit our play.

There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

Solano is a decent player. All this stuff about whether or not a player would get a game with one of the top three is not necessarly the point in my view. Ljundberg wouldn't get a game at Chelsea but that doesn't mean he's a bad player. Infact I think he's a top footballer who chips in with vital goals. Similarly Pires who scored well into double figure Prem goals last season from left mid.
I also don't get this "we've got to get someone who gets crosses in" angle. We're not looking for a Stanley Mathews type player here, we're looking for somebody who can play right midfield. Somebody who can work the line, forwards and backwards. Somebody who can defend as well as attack. Somebody who when the ball is crossed in from the left can attack the ball at the back post. If unsuccessful he gets up off his erse and works back, getting behind the ball.
If that somebody is also the best free-kicker in the Premiership (which Solano in all probability is) then so much the better. He wouldn't be my first choice but at least if you signed him we would stop this daft practice of Gerrard taking the corners. If I was playing against Liverpool I would be very happy to see Stevie G taking the corners. He should be in the box attacking the ball or at the very least, hanging around on the edge of the area for a shot.

good post bigmick :bowdown

it's always the same. "would he get into the top three?", "he's not good enough", "we don't want rejects" blah blah blah.

it's simple, would the likes of stelios or solano be better than what we currently have on the right hand side of midfield? of course. people just think because they're at unfashionable clubs that they can't make the step up.

we have to realise that players in the top bracket just aren't realistically available, especially this close to the transfer deadline.
