Baros going to villa
We need a right winger
Isnt linking Solano to us last week just putting two and two together, when i saw that Lyon had sold Essien, i said to the lads in work that Lyon are more likely to go for Cisse than owen (which was the rumour at the time) as Houllier paid 14 million for a player he never managed but still admired and its plan obvious Owen wouldnt go to Lyon, and hey presto Cisse is linked with Lyon. When you read the press so much you sort of know where there next big scoop is comin from with out reading the papers. And you might be messing but you know deep inside IRRF you love it just a little that you got it right  :D

Solano is not good enough. Im peruvian and since i can remember he was the motivating force in the peruvian national team. now he cant even make it as a squad player. Being a peruvian i can honestly say that the national team is as painful to look at as recieving a kick on the groin and he is not good enough to play for them. I just found this from RPP, a peruvian radio which recently spoke to solano
Nolberto Solano
for those who dont know spanish he basicly says that it would be fantastic to play for liverpool especialy now that he is on the final years of his career and that he would speak to David O’leary so he could go to liverpool. he wouldnt be a solution to the right wing so i just hope rafa asks for extra cash for baros if he sells him to villa to get a real winger to the team or a certain striker who everyone is talking about.

This is in the Baros topic, Its in the transfer rumours topic, so there was really no need to start another topic about, and if he does sign I will be very dissapionted that the Champions of europe are buying, newcastle+Villa cast off Solano, plus Chelsea and Boros castoff Zenden

Solano isn't a Newcastle or Aston Villa cast off[just ask their fans]. Solano was Villa's best player last season and because Villa's chairman has no brains he hasn't offered Solano a new contract and is probably considering leaving Villa.

We are not Villa or Newcastle A.B. they have never won a thing, would Solano get into the top 3 teams? NO, so he is not good enough for Liverpool, Zenden was shipped out of Chelsea cause he wasnt good enough, you have to be honest he is no Arjen Robben or Damien Duff is he? ???
Im sorry but I dont want Solano playing for Liverpool.

i think and feel that solano is more of a squad player. he doesnt seem good enough to play onthe first team week in, week out. if he came, he will probably be a reserve wheareas if he stays at villa, he will be worshipped. see the diifference? hope he makes the right choice. dont want his career to end onthe bench does he?

I agree Lynds,

However, I do feel we have to be realistic with our transfer dealings, the fact is we  are bringing a lot of new players into the club at once, and we have NO SUITABLE right winger, therefore we do need someone that can hit the ground running and with EPL experience.

As for Zenden?  :no Too slow, too cagey, not willing to take players on, crosses the ball far too infrequently IMO, however as always I am prepared to be proved wrong...................PLEASE!!

Should we make all of our signings based on whether the player can play for the top three or should we sign players who suit Rafa's system and plans?

Im pretty sure that most of the players in the top three teams would suit Rafas plans.

You don't understand what I'm trying to say. Should we only sign players who could play in the top three teams or should we sign players who suit our way of play?

No we dont base it on whether players would get into the top 3 teams, but Solano would NOT be a good buy for Liverpool and Rafa has just said he is NOT interested in signing him, thank f*ck. Benitez  insisted the Reds aren't interested in signing Nolberto Solano from Aston Villa as part of any Milan Baros deal. "

I agree with u to a certain extent. I myself do not want to see him playing for liverpool and although i find him a good player, but only for mid table teams.

But everybody can see in (especially in the boro game), we were cruelly exposed on the right flank, Garcia cant play there and Cisse looked a tad uncomfortable there as well, even if he played well there, it would be a waste to play a 14mil striker out of position especially if hes starting to find his way in front of goal. Solano on the other hand, though getting on with age, and IMO not good enough for liverpool, would prove a short term solution to Rafa's RM problem. If only for a season until we have avaliable funds to purchase a long term prospect in that position next season. Solano is proven in the premiership and has decent skills, I wouldnt mind him joining us, but only if he comes cheap and signs at most a 2 year deal.

You dont buy players like Solano and expect to win the prem in the near future Im sorry but you just dont.

yup, solano is no duff nor robben nor is he a player that would walk into the top 3 team. But he does provide a short term solution when

1) all the decent right wingers are either
    a) bought up by Chelski
    b) their clubs dun wanna sell them
    c) are too pricey
    d) unproven in the premiership

2) we do desparately need a RM, its reflected quite plainly in the boro game

3) Rafa is clearly desparate to sign a player for this position (and also another CB) before the window closes in less than 2 weeks time

4) Solano does provide us with what we need, though not quite the complete package that we have been hoping for

Signing quality players would be a sign that we are progressing but signing a decent one when we so desparately need one is not taking a step back. The way i look at it, a natural right winger in the squad is better than none at all, if only as cover until we can get our hands on a better one.
