It does seem stupid that such a big footballing nation such as England cant produce a quality manager for its national team.

problem was though mate it started getting very clicky with the english managers. venables liked his cockney wide boy sheringham at a time when the best striker in england bar non was robbie fowler. the theory was that a foreigner wouldnt have any pre concieved ideas or old friendships and picked players purely based on merit and not on the fact that he had been a stalwart at the managers ex club.
i remember when sven first came in and picked powell from charlton, everyone was patting themselves on the back saying this is what it should be like, it shouldnt matter what club you play for if your good enough.

Wow, you guys really got it handed to you.  Not that I can relate, though.  Over here in the US of A, we got another win tonight.  #6 in the world and moving up!

I agree it's time to put SWP in ahead of Beckham.  Lampard and Gerrard can play together but it would be better to play only one at a time.  I wonder who would partner well with Gerrard and who would partner well with Lampard, either way its better to let one of them play the game the same way they are used to at their clubs when they shine in the midfield.
Wow David James just sucked.

I really think we should get rid of Sven now.  It would still give us time to sort ourselves out for the world cup.  The players we have in the majority are top class. The right manager would get them sorted.  Some one like Big Sam  I reckon could do the  job. We can't afford to get to Germany and the same thing happen. We need an English manager not a swede  who  thinks with his  turnip.

Has there been any comments from the "world's BEST defender' or from his agent this morning?

The guy with the dreadlocks who thought that £100 grand a week wasn't enough for him. Greedy parasite. He plays well when there's a pay cheque at the end of the month for him.

Yesterday should have been the time for Sven to start pulling the England team together and getting them playing properly as a team, with the important match against Wales just over a fortnight away.

But Professor Yaffle continues to mess about with his six substitutes, changing the whole shape of the team. How the hell are we supposed to get any consistency and continuity doing that?

We have players who are not even regular starters for their league teams for christ sake!

Glen Johnson played like a guy from a Sunday pub team. There was so much space, the Danes could have driven a ten-ton truck load of Carlsberg down our right-hand side.

The blame for last night lies mainly at the feet of the Swedish prat in charge and the FA who gave him a ridiculous package of £4m a year - the third highest paid manager in the world after Mourinho and Fergusmoan.

Last night should be a firm kick up the bum for the FA and make them realise what idiots they have been in appointing this passionless Swede.

Yesterday was our worst International defeat for 25 ferking years!

Can you imagine if that result had happened under Graham Taylor?  He would have been absolutely slaughtered. Sven has got off quite lightly in today's press.

We have a first team midfield - Gerrard, Lampard, SWP and Joe Cole - who are good enough to do well in the World Cup - but not whilst bungling Mr Burns is in charge.

lads lads lads!
do you really believe that a manager should be sacked for 1 bad result in a friendly? Or that because of this game we have no chance of winning the world cup? Do you really think that Big Sam Allardyce, or McLaren or whoever could come in, and turn us into world beaters in 9 months? Does anyone really think that this result means we won't beat Wales & N Ireland?

quote from above -
"Can you imagine if that result had happened under Graham Taylor?  He would have been absolutely slaughtered. Sven has got off quite lightly in today's press" Taylor DID get results like that, in important games, and picked a bunch of gonks and always ignored anyone with talent - if that's anyone's idea of an "english" manager, give me a foreigner every time.

Before you give Erikson all this grief, remember the last few managers we had. With them, with the exception of Venables, we'd have done better with no manager at all! He and the players will be having a hard look at themselves right now, and if they fail in September to learn from yesterday, then the manager should be criticised. Until then, let's try and keep it in perspective........
