Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Well .. as we had decided we would talk after every 5 games and analyze our respective clubs progress.

Your first five fixtures are

Boro away
Sunderland home
Spurs away
Manu home
Birmingham away

The first game of the Prem is always going to be tricky. Boro are a boring and old team, but experienced and will put up a fight.

Spurs and Manu are the important fixtures. Spurs have improved leaps and bounds under Jol and IMO they are the team to watch this season. They have made some good buys and you can bet your last buck this will be a very tough game to win.

Manu are all guns blazing. They have won zilch last 2 years and are hungry. They want to impress the new boss and im sure Alex has whipped them left right and center, they will be tough to beat.

Brum and Sunderland should be in the bag.

Our first five fixtures are

Wigan away
Arsenal home
WBA home
Spurs away
Sunderland home

Again first game always tricky, would have liked to play a promoted club midseason as they are energetic and excited for the start. But I expect us to win it.

Arsenal and Spurs are the important fixtures for us. Playing Arsenal is never easy. I think we haven’t beaten them in the League for 7 years now, once in the CL and the other just a few days ago. I think we have what it takes to win this game. A draw would be acceptable.

Spurs will be difficult .. I think you play them before we do and I will watch that game closely and predict our result.

WBA and Sunderland should be in the bag, but you never know.

There might be a 3 point difference between us after the first 5 games.

Cheers.

I just looked at the teamsheets for today and we kick :censored: in every position, except for the strikers which are fairly evenly matched. Jimmy is still a major force to be reckoned with and I will never understand why Chelsea let him go, and Djibril may be on fire at the moment, but he is still recovering, so who knows? Morientes is Class, but I must admit, I would have taken Yakubu over Crouch as he has terrorised our defences in the not too distant past. But over all, I think we'll win.

As for Chel$ki vs. Wigan, my head is telling me that Roman's boys will trounce the minnows, but my guts are telling me that Wigan might snatch a draw. But then again, my guts have sh!t for brains, so I'll say comfortable win.

We both have similar game's to start off. I think what you said make's sense about newly promoted team's having high energy and wanting to prove they can cope, but at the same time that can get them into a mess, look at Crystal Palace against us, must have been about 1995/6, we thrashed them 6 - 0 at Selhurst Park!

Anyway, to be totally honest, I fancy Chelsea to take 13 point's from those matches, the draw being against Arsenal. I'd take us for 11 point's in our first five game's, although way may drop a couple more.

This is by far the worst performance under Jose. We were slack, not motivated, not eager to pass or create, not bothered to track back and defend, and overall still in holiday mood.

However Crespo scored a truely world class goal which brought tears to my eyes, I hope his troubled times are behind him and I hope he shows what a player he really is .. one of the best strikers in the world and easily the best striker in the EPL.

Looking forward to the Arsenal game .. boys better be prepared.
