Are you a technophile or a technophobe ? do you view each new product as a friend or a threat ? Are scientists and inventors really trying to help us or are they just taking the pi'ss.

(poll inspired by the 18 page manual that came with my answer machine)

I like to think I'm a clever clogs but it's all hard work sometimes.  You have to persevere with some stuff, but I like gadgetry and machinery in general.  In the past I have built and hand coded Content Management Systems from scratch, but that's not what my job is anymore.  And I spend too much time drinking and partying now to technically be called a geek.

Yes, I fore-see a time when robots will be made to match your fantasies exactly (Cathrine Zeta Jones and Eva Longoria for me!), they'll be sex mad and will be lager-fetching LFC fans.

Thats my prediction! :O :p :D

I venture to define science as a series of interconnected concepts and conceptual schemes arising from experiment and observation and fruitful of further experiments and observations. The test of a scientific theory is, I suggest, its fruitfulness.

I struggled to follow that. can't tell if you are being funny.

are you suggesting that scientific theory is only as valuable as the immediate outcome of the theory/research? doesn't this mean all non-commercial, academic research is not fruitfull?

if you were being funny ignore this post.

I love new technology. The thrill of assembly, the dispair of it not working, the tedium of calling the help line, the joy of a replacement, the thrill of assembly again, followed by the contentment and satisfaction of a job well done. I love it.  :)
