No 5 - Who is it ?

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Last season Le tellac bagged a bunch of goals in pre season, also did the year before, and has amounted to nothing the season following, so pre season should not be used to judge the value of a player.

I think you guys should drop the argument. There is no point of arguing with Hustler. We all know how smart he is and we need to show more class than that. Everybody knows he couldn't conduct any normal, constructive conversation. So, why bother. Just ignore him.

Back to the topic, as we have more quality strikers now. We are not going to miss Baros much and it would be very helpful if we can turn his transfer into getting a defender. I think you can't have the whole team compromise their style just for Baros. It simply comes down to its easier to replace Baros than the whole team. Baros style just doesn't fit. There is no doubt he has the talent but you have to admit its time to part way.

I seem to remember a few years ago when Houllier was going to sell him and Baros returned to preseason a stone lighter and a yard quicker. Everyone thought that he was a changed man but it didn't last long then and I don't see the "new" Baros lasting a full season now.
Cash in while we can (for once !!!)

The problem with Baros is he only has one good game in 4. When he tries he's a world beater - as his performances for the Czech Rep show, but the problem is he doesn't try every game, he's lazy.

I don't think you can say he 'loves' playing for liverpool - he sees it as a job rather than a priviledge

Anyways it's been reported that Villa will make a 5 million bid for Baros.

Villa put a £5m bid and have just sold Vassell for £2.5m which should make it up to the £7+ that LFC want for him, the only problem is that Baros thinks he's ace and should be playing for Real, Barca, etc and I doubt he'd sign for West Ham, Villa, etc. :(

His attitude on the pitch is always excellent. He works hard no matter what the news/fans said about him. Again compare him to Cisse on teh pitch. Who has the better attitude?

Cisse didn't complain when he didn't play like Baros did, instead he worked his a## off to recover from his injury that kept him out for more half a season. Imo he has a better mentality than Baros.

Cisse did not complain because he was injured. He did trained hard to recover ahead of schedule, but he could not complain because he was not at full fitness yet. He himself knew it. Even after he had his full fitness, when he came on for Baros in the 60th minute or so in our last 10 games maybe, he does not run like baros to pressure the defenders! He strolled around on the pitch. When he has the ball up front by himiself he tries to get past 3 defenders and tries a shot in from 40 yards out. (This was against Juventus/Chelsea I think, correct me if i am wrong)

Cisse's fitness was no where near Baros's fitness in those games.

I'd have Cisse over Baros any day, and so would Mr.Benitez by the looks of it

If you had broken your leg you wouldn't be running all over the pitch either. Cisse in the 10 minutes he played against Chelsea in the second leg kept Cech bussier than Baros did in the two legs combined.
