I would have to say no.And i think if this scenario came about he probably would be kept on.

Fourth spot means nothing unless we are showing serious signs of improvement.Fourth is equivalent to mid table for a club like Liverpool and is nothing to boast about.

i wouldn't keep him on, however i think the board will. houllier has 1 year left on his contract and i think the board feel obliged to let houllier see it out, evn if that means us going further backwards. tradition means nothing in terms of us "not being a sacking club". we'll never win the league with this man in charge.

Ok this is theroectically now but say next year with houllier we won the leauge and the F.A. cup and got reasonably far in europe.Would you extend his contract.I know theres F all chance of it happening but if it did.Would you extend his term.

football fans are so fickle. if that happened even houllier's biggest critics would all of a sudden think he was the best thing since sliced bread. if that miracle did occur, i might have to re-evaluate my opinion of the guy as well.

too true on the fickle bit. The sad thing is that if we did finish 4th and GH was kept on we'd only get kicked out at the qualifying stage and spend another year in the second rate cup.

I think 4th and the Uefa Cup would be an alright season with the problems we've had this term, so i would give him another year.

However, that's not going to happen as i don't think we are good enough to gain 4th place or win the Uefa Cup.  If you look at a team like Valencia we are nowhere them.

It's a sad fact and I hope that I'm wrong, but I can see us finishing 6th.

i've read many liverpool fans think they'll be lucky to finish 4th and this is the same in newcastle where we've not played well all season but still find ourselfs in fourth.
so who do you think will finish 4th?

i watched sunderland turn them over the other day and we played them off the park down there .it could be a close run contest. last game of the season could be interesting.

I reckon we'll scrape into 4th, we're probably the best of a very average bunch competing for that Champions League place.Gonna be very close though.

I have a feeling it will all come down to that last game of the season. Lets hope Newcastle will be the ones needing the win as Bobby has still to win at Anfield in 25odd years as player and manager.
I can just see us pinching that 4th spot and then having to endure GH talking about how he turned the season around when everything was looking so bleak.
And then it's another season of having to support Arsenal (as apposed to the alternative) and having to look out for the results of the likes of Villa and Birmingham! I can't wait! Happy days :(
