Locked threads - Whats going on.

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby woof woof ! » Tue May 24, 2005 8:12 pm

Although i appreciate the work of the mods. Surely locking a thread after only four posts (as in liverpool fans in istanbul) is a bit over zealous ????

Surely we (the members ) in this forum are adult enough to at least be allowed the opportunity to digest what is being posted on our forum .

Sorry Jmac , you're a top geezer but locking a thread after only four posts is not on .    :bump

I had a quick look at the thread in question woof and I think John was right in locking it.

If it was me I'd have simply deleted the :censored:! :D

Hold up !
So you're telling me that the chosen few can decide what the rest of us can see after a thread that consisted of only FOUR POSTS !!! ffs   :veryangry

Christ ! the time line for the thread was less than 6 minutes ,the fact that it was locked so quickly denied us the opportunity to view whatever it was that Jmac decided to ban .

Since when has this forum become a Stalinist state ?

I accept there are boundaries within the forum but if you guys (the mods ) are gonna wrap me up in cotton wool and keep me safe secure and sanatised ,I think I'll just fk off to another forum that will at least treat me like an adult '

Sometimes woof these things are better nipped in the bud. I accept your point about not being wrapped in cotton wool, but often in these cases if you leave dodgy posts up you get half a dozen angry PMs from people claiming we are aiding and abetting posters with abusive/racist/dodgy views by not doing anything about it, so you are damned if you do and damned if you don't.

I haven't locked or deleted a post in absolutely ages and in fairness its only the very rare one that does.

As for censorship, we are definitely one of the most relaxed forums............CGGY got suspended from RAWK for using the word "scum". ???

Nipped in the Bud ?

Only you guys (the mods ) can make that assumption . We (the plebs)not being given the chance to read it have no idea how valid that statement may be  .

I'm sure that if the thread was so offensive we would have called for it to be locked ,perhaps only after we had been given the opportunity to at least respond in kind .

Why not rename this site "Pravda" , I'm sure you'll recall that was the state contriolled rag in the old USSR which ironically translated meant "Truth "

I don't know the thread in question so I cannot comment.

All I can say is that there must have been seriously abusive or offensive stuff in it for it to have been deleted.

99% of threads that get deleted are either duplicate threads (i.e. accidental double posts) or brazen attempts by people to advertise.
