Liverpool eyeing Mintal swoop

Liverpool are keen on signing Marek Mintal in the summer.

The free-scoring Nurnberg midfielder has had a quite phenomenal season for the struggling German side, scoring 19 goals in 24 Bundesliga appearances despite their fight against relegation.

And Rafael Benitez has certainly been impressed with the 27-year-old Slovakian international, with reports in Germany suggesting the Reds boss is poised with a £2.75million bid.

However, Nurnberg are likely to ask for more if they do decide to cash in, with manager Wolfgang Roth saying: "Marek is irreplaceable for us and, in addition, his market price increases with every goal he scores."
