Kewell, Garcia and Nunez have struggled this season but were good at previous clubs.

Before that, Diouf, Diao, Cheyrou, Dudek, Kirkland, Barmby and Biscan came with good reputations but have had patchy form to say the least.

Sadly, a change of manager doesn't seem to have stopped the trend.

Do we put players under too much pressure to perform once we sign them because we are too desperate to get back to the glory days?

Don't think he even played 20 games for real madrid....

I know we have bought medeocre players in the past but we have ONE big problem overall, and its from our past glories we think these players are not good enough.
Because our great players from the past in our glory days won everything in sight, and we as fans tend to compare with these so called great players.
Sadly football has changed first MONEY is what matters to most players now as a footballer has a very short career.
And 2. To many foriegners being brought into the prem who dont have a clue about past history and traditions.
Finally we put alot of pressure on the players without knowing it, because we want the old Liverpool back but sadly it has long faded away with changing times.
And they cannot compete and be what WE want as fans.

I absolutley agree, but we dont need players as good as we were way back then. We need players good enough to win the PL NOW. Houllier signed a lot of players as he believed that a large "squad" was mega important, my view is that i would rather have a small squad of quality rather than a large one full of mediocrity. Once we have this we can then go on and build a squad to dominate Europe for the next ten years!.

I'm afraid past traditions of clubs are forgotten because every sport [including football] has become a business.

EPL is diverse and therefore the gameplay is diverse. You don't need all Brittish players on your squad in order to lift a trophy [look at Arsenal] however you do need class players and the ability to play as a team consistantly

Ya know watching manure then I hate to say it but they are brilliant, even better than chelsea I think if chelsea have a slip up they will win the league.
They are far from finished maybe when Keane retires it will change he is the boss on the pitch, Stevie has an awful lot to do before he is classed as the best in europe.
I hated Roy Keane in the past when he was the prems bad boy, hes older now and you have to respect what a good player he is.
Ok we can beat manure and arsenal on our day, the problem is we dont continue on that roll.
We beat Arsenal, Olyimpicos then got beat from everton, where as manure and lets say arsenal go on and fear no one and beat everyone in sight.
Manure havent been beat since the pompey game last season, look at us agisnt a sh#tty saints side and then to repeat a performance twice as bad at Birmingham

Ive finally taken off my red tainted glasses as we are still a few seasons behind the so called (TOP THREE).
And im afraid about 10 quality class players behind them.

Man Utd are strong because they play as a team week in and week out. On our day when we play as a team we can beat anybody but we can't do it consistantly. Thats our problem and has been for years now.

That is what i can't understand....the manure players still have some much fire in their belly even after being so sucessful in the last decade.

But the players here...... What awful & effortless performance against birmingham, scums, blue sh1t & boro...

Im no way slating foreign players A.B. but you do need a majority of english in a team in the prem, 2 of arsenals best players are english but they have class all around them, Bergkamp, Henry, Vierra, Pires to name a few they know each others game inside out and trust each other.

Manure have Scholes, Ferdinand, Keane irish but knows the score, the Nevilles, Giggs Welsh but still part of the british Isles, these teams know what it lives to live in the shadows of Liverpool dominating everything for years and years when these players where mere minors they know, plus Fergie will drum it into there heads if they didnt know it already.

Chelsea there best players apart from Robben are english or from the british Isles, Lampard, Terry, Duff, Cole, to name a few again all world class players same as the above teams.

We have 2 that play with there heart Gerrard and Carra, we have Finnan Irish great player, been brilliant this season, my point is we can have foriegners in our team but you need a bit of a back bone of english talent over rated maybe? Expensive of course they are, but ask yourself why they are so expensive?

Because these players can win you the premiership.
Ok compared to whats abroad in Barca, Madrid they may not be better than the Ronaldos, Etos, Ronaldinhos but then again they dont play against these teams week in week out do they?

Maybe twice a season in a CL game, or in an international but thats not important as its for your country then.

We have 2 fantastic players Liverpool born and bred ones having the season of his life Carra and rightly so hes been brilliant for us, but we are conceeding an awful lot of goals noway am I blaming him maybe his companion next to him Hypia getting to old now, plus a very dodgy keeper we have.

Next we have our Liverpool born and bred captain whos been threating to jump ship for probably a year now, he should do one thing or the other pledge his future with the club or leave.

I guess what I am getting at is you need a mixture of players of different nationalitys whether it be German, Dutch, Spanish, Czech etc etc..........................
But these have to be the RIGHT players not a talent scout going to watch a player abroad twice hearing other clubs are after this player be it Chelsea, The scum , Arsenal our manager, and the club have to be realisic and think.
1. Will this player do well in the prem its a rough ride.
2. Will he fit in with his team mates? (DIOUF)

3. Does this player know what it means to pull on the red jersey of Liverpool and will he do well for the club?

What has past glories got to do with what kind of players we buy now? silly boy. So if we'd have bought Henry, Pires, Robben, Duff, etc etc what would you have said then?

No joking, your post was a DEFEATEST AND POOR ATTITUDE to have as an LFC fan

Its all about buying the right quality of player, some of these players are out of thier depth when they join LFC and the premierhsip like harry kewell, and only come for the glamour and the big paycheque.

LFC have had the sae sort of money to buy players as chlsea over the past few years, and squandered most of it, by buying the wrong players.

Excuse me, Harry Kewell out of his depth? Hopelessly out of form yes but he's playing at exactly the same level here as he was for leeds (near the top of the table until his final season, consistently in UEFA Cup and champions league) so how is he out of his depth? And maybe you didnt notice but actually he didnt come into the premiership when he joined us so your comment about him being out of his depth when joining Liverpool and the premiership seem really, really bizare to me.

hit on the nose, until we work as one we will not reach the top 3. This year injuries have hindered that, but look for that to happen to start next year.
