This site has some plans and artwork of the new stadium.

New Anfield

This image was the original proposal to redevelop Anfield. It was turned down in favour of a new stadium.

no , no ,no , it wasnt as intricate as that , stop fantasizing.
i know its great to romance and dream up these special ideas,
but the real reason it was called the kop was because some italian bloke had an argument with a scottish bloke who dropped a penny and they had a scrap over this penny , the italian called ivor farted and the scotch bloke called adrian said "hey ivor, you should say 'excuse me' when you break wind"
so ivor retorted 'no i shouldnt' , but i think i'll name the busy end at anfield the kop'

Mr Cheesy does it again...............................what u ask?........................Talks a load of boll##ks. :p

So this is the explanation then?
Mourinho was customizing his flashy blue racing car -- applying the finishing touches of go-faster stripes, aerodynamic spoilers and a fat f@ck you exhaust -- while on his red car, Benitez was trying to glue together a broken chassis, repair bodywork and replace burst tyres.

Spion Kop means Spy Hill in Afrikaans
And nothing to do with Scouser Tommy as that was a highland regiment in WWII

The term KOP is used in other clubs but Spion Kop is linked to LFC as it was a big Merseyside regiment that fought at that particular battle

Gold star to whoever can tell me the name of the ship that had its mast on the old Kop
