This is not a "football" post but it may be of interest to members using a dial-up connection and is posted here to reach the widest readership.
Particularly on this site, using Internet Explorer, rendering was very slow and I occasionally waited more than a minute for pages to appear.  A newspaper article alerted me to a new browser called Firefox which is downloadable free and I promise you the difference is amazing.
You don't have to get rid of Internet Explorer or even make Firefox your default browser - just give it a try, I'm sure you'll be glad you did.  It also has more safety features than IE, which as we all know  is riddled with security holes
A new e-mail package called Thunderbird is also available free - again this is better than Microsoft's.
Just search "firefox" in Google or whatever.  (And no!  there's nothing in it for me  :D     )

Firefox is a great browser, loads better than IE and the tabs are a great feature, us mac users have had tabs available for ages with Safari, anyways if you want Firefox or Thunderbird goto www.mozilla.com.

Also this is in the wrong section :;):

Thanks for that Paul. :)
I did say that it wasn't the right forum, but as this is the most widely used, I wanted as many people as possible to read it.
Only trying to help.  No offence

I've been using FireFox for ages, It much better than IE, you can also tweak it to improve the speed of it displaying pages if you know how to.

Another very good browser is Opera!
He comes from Spain and he doesn't speak good English,
But we don't care cos he'll turn us into winners,
The European Cup will be ours before he's finished,

Firefox is a beast.  I've been using it for ages now.  You can open all your favourites in tabs and it only takes one window in your taskbar.

Once you've got it and installed it, give this a try.

See what you think.

We use Apple Macs in our work.  When my PC has had it's day, I'm with them FOREVER

They're well less trouble than Windows and PC's.

does it have plugins like anti-spy, pop-up blocker etc.?
I've been using IE since such features are attachable to the browser, and they are very useful (specially the 'yahoo anti-spy') :)

i agree firefox is cool. not only is it fast and solid and will load pages that my other main browser (safari) will not but its free and comes from developers with the right attitude towards software.

but despite all that i still use safari as my mine browser because - and you may call me petty - i don't like the look of firefox. i've tried a few different skins but haven't found anything i really like yet. i like the look of safari - has anyone discovered a skin with a similar look?

and nice one for the firefox tweaking link, johnnymac.

I have had Firefox for a while too but still use Safari as my main browser even though I can use Natwest online and other pages with Firefox but can't with Safari, I use Thunderbird over Apple Mail as you can't create folders in Mail and Thunderbird is quicker :)
