he's going to be the next OAP Alan Hansen
when he's still playing at 37 & he's the first name on the team sheet - we should all look back at this thread

I was skeptic at first, not knowing the quality or the nature of signing a 33 years old defender whe we should be associated with players of Hyppia (at his prime), Terry/Ferdinand/Campbell's quality, but then I took a step back and try to look at a big picture...

The signing of Pallegrino might prove to be a masterstroke from Rafa in that it will allow SH/JC to a welcome breather. Besides covering for any injures across the back four, Pallegrino understands Rafa's zonal marking system well and will be able to pass on his knowledge. By the time the likes of Whitbread & Raven makes it to the first XI, he and Hyppia will be able to fades away gracefully. In the meantime, he will be a good influence to the younger players. I won't be surprise if Pallegrino turns out to be a GaryMac ...

With injuries currently raging all over our squad, it will also freed up the much needed transfer funds to finance the purchase of a striker and a midfielder (hopefully it's Aimar). All said, I will have to say well done to Rafa on this shrewd signing...

Agree with you Santa
His experience with some of the younger players bordering on first team action - could prove to be invaluable
You never know - he might do so well - that he holds down a first team place - most people aren't even considering that as they see him as merely back up to Sami & J C
If nothing else - it may provide a liitle more insentive for MR Hyppia
J C is playing out of his skin at the moment - so don't really think he needs to apply himself anymore than what he's doing already
