Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Moores puts NO money into the club apart from a very small initial investment . He will however make a VERY VERY substantial profit when he finally buggers off.

The money offered by Morgan was a true RED putting his own money where his mouth is and would not have pushed us into a "Leeds" scenario. I would not like to see LFC become another Chelsea as I still believe that that set up will all end up in tears. No matter how rich Abramovich is, the wage bill there cannot be justified and the Chelski world will finally implode.

The Boss will see us through, its obvious to anyone watching this season that he can see the weaknesses and is making a real improvement on a shoestring. Once the bloodsuckers are finally shifted from the wage bill he will succeed.

Excellent thread fellas. Not been on for a while so have been reading all 7 pages. I have pretty mixed feelings about the management. I've always appreciated that the manager has received financial backing. We all know GH screwed up big time with Diouff, Diao and Cheyrou a few summers ago but i don't think you can lay the blame directly at Parry's feet for backing a manager who, up till that point, was doing a good job with the club. Plus its not like we haven't spent any money this summer - Cisse, Alonso, Josemi, Garcia & Nunez must have cost nearly 35mill against the 10mill we recouped for Owen & Murphy.
On the flip-side, i believe Moores & Parry have personal & Power issues with Moores and get the impression they would turn him down not matter how much money he came up with.

Still, we have one of the most promising managers in world football and i don't think he needs the big big money to turn us into contenders. Unless big investement is found we know the captain will be off for 40mill. It's catch 22 - Get rich and we keep him, lose him an we get rich.

Walk on...

John Barnes' Granny

Good posting but the accounts are fine if you want to stay where we are and not bolster the team up significantly with the odd star thrown in.

For me the dilemma seems to be do we want a club that has some rich backer or do we want to try and do it the hard way on the cheap, or perhaps something between the 2.

I suppose if a rich backer comes in (and there will be more of them backing other teams) then it will still take a season or 2.

Going to the extreme and every other club got a backer would we be so proud as to say no thats not for us, of course not. I guess whats happening is that extrenal pressures are affecting football and to me we need to adopt to these or fall by the wayside.

Football is now more of a business and less of a sport I'm afraid which is why these financiers are stepping in, and at least no one can take our history away so there will be other bids. For me I just wished Parry and Moores would let the fans know why they turned down the bid, I know they made statements but they lacked any real information.

And to all the other guys who've posted there has been some excellent responses.

I have received information that there was a board meeting at Anfield yesterday.

On the agenda was the financial status of the club and an update with regards progress that has been made in the transfer market by the manager and chief executive.

Things have gone quiet on the investment front but we are expecting an update within the next 24 hours as to the current state of play.  :oh:

Steve Morgan is an arrogant know nothing, clueless ****** who would simply turn this club into another Spurs/Villa.

He hasn't got the patience, knowledge of the game or reputation to run this club.

He maybe a fan, he may support the club, well done if he does, that doesn't make him the best man for the job. Moores has done an excellent job of running this club. Theres, been a few poor decisions in terms of sales etc, but he's never put the club at serious risk.

I think if Rafa has another season like this next season and Morgan was in charge, he'd change the manager. For me that isn't the way forward.

Funny those criticism could be levied at Moores and Parry.
