Cut the ******

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

We signed a 33 year-old and in the eyes of some of our fans we are now a team of "Rafa's Old Boys"? How does one old player make us a squad of Old Boys? Please cut the bullsh!t,we all say in Rafa we trust yet there are those idiots who whine and bitch about the signing of a class defender.

Let's get to the point. Why buy a defender who has won medals and titles? Why well because Hyypia and Carragher are human and so they won't lasts all season. When one of them get injured we need an experienced defender to come in and get the job done. Yes we can use the youngsters but they are youngsters with no first team experiance.

I can understand if we payed big money for Pellegrino the fact of the matter is that we got him on a free transfer I believe until the end of the season and he has the option of extending his contract. We need back up players, we need good experienced back up players and after all the injuries I think that Rafa has done the right thing. Almost all of our players have been injured and there is no harm done by signing a class defender.

There are tons of 30 year olds in football who are still class, I don't need to name them as I'm sure you all know who they are so please cut the ****** and the drama.

I'm sure most want English talent at Liverpool but the fact is that English talent is overpriced. Yes, most English players are overpriced.

King is a great defender but Tottenham won't sell him for under 10 million.

Jermaine Defoe is a young skilful striker but he's price rises everytime he starts for England. No less than 15 million.

Shawn Wright-Phillips worth 25 million? WTF ! And Andy Johnson 8 million?  ??? How the hell can AJ be worth as same as the Michael Owen?

We don't have a mobster like Chelsea who can spend millions and millions.

Agree totally. Its very important to rest our first team players during "easy" games and have a player with the quality of Pellegrino as a substitute. Moreover ,we got him for free,I think it worths

i understand what you are saying .
it is all down to money Rafa would love to buy Terry or Wright-Phillips and would have liked to have kept Michael Owen.
but he can not.
but i am sure he could have looked further afield than his opld club , i know he knows them but i am sure there are better players and younger players out there.

we lose nothing by bringing in this guy, if he's no good, we give him away on a free, if he's good, he gets a 1yr contract.  fact is, we need defensive cover and he is it.  Don't see the point in thinking this is a symbolic signing.

Gareth Barry would be a good buy , i dont know what you think about him.
or Matt jackson (Wigan) he could hit the big time if he had the right players around him(bit old now)

maybe symbolic as in our first signing of the transfer window to put us on the track for success.

not really, when Rafa brings in his first striker....then i will start making judgments.  But i'm not going to knock the manager on a free transfer player who is only on a 6month contract!
