better safer than never... however.. i doubt he will want to sign for an extension. something which realli bothers mi.. if he realli wants to stay, why didn't he say so himself.. rather than tell rafa that he wants to stay.. he is our captain and will always be... he is a true liverpool fan, no doubt.. unlike that owen..

If he signs a contract extention, he would have to be given a substantial pay rise. He is earning about 50k per week. If he was to sign an extention, he would have to be paid 60 to 70k per week.

We should take it slow for this situation.

I am pis*ed off with Steven Gerrard. I wish he would keep his very well paid gob shut. 50k a week??!!!
Bloody hell! He is a Liverpool lad, surely he should know that the vast majority of his fellow scousers only dream of earning that amount of money per YEAR!!
He needs a good slap!
He opened his mouth prior to the Olympiakos game, and at least put the ball in the net; I could have kissed his ugly face. He was a true captain.
Letting Owen go for the amount we got for him, and the player in exchange was pitiful. To me Nunez is not worth that much, but I have a feeling that he will blossom under Rafa.
When we sell Gerrard, and I hope we will, at a time that will suit us as a team, he will have learned much under Rafa. 35million for raw material; imagine what we would get after he learns to be an even better player under Rafa. I do not like players who hold their team and management to ransom. I am afraid that SG for me, is one of them. Get SWP now as a future replacement for SG. They may not be the same type of player, but their skills are equivalent and SWP is not a self important loudmouth.

How in the bloody hell could SWP be an even close replacement to Steven Gerrard?

Sorry. I do not think of SG as a God.
SWP would at least not hold LFC to ransom.
It is amazing how well Everton (sorry 4 swearing!) have got on without Rooney. Don't you think Liverpool will get on better without SG throwing his dummy out of the pram.He is captain, he should lead by example, not whinge as an example.
At the moment SG is a big fish in a little 'pool. I just want the 'Pool to be big again, so that our big stars fight to be in the team, not think of it as their right.

No I do not think of SG as a god either, but SWP can't be compared to SG. I agree that SG has been talking a bit too much lately and that he should shut up and just play football. He is not doing himself or the club any favours by running his mouth left and right.

Not so sure about that Kenco. I won't be surprised if he goes but equally I wouldn't be surprised if he stays. If we continue to be inconsistent for the 2nd half of the season then yes I think he'll go, but if we can bring in a couple of quality signings and have a better run of luck with injuries then I can see us firing on all cylinders and make him feel like LFC is the only place to be

It's premature to say he's definitely going

He'll go, just posing in the press like most poncy footballers.

I say F off and stop bitching about LFC, mamanaman, Fowler & Owen all left and were quickly forgotten and so will S.g

I am really fed up with all these footballers thinking they are "stars". SG is a very good player but he is hardly Maradonna. If he doesn't want to play for LFC and would prefer a nothing club who are the plaything of a Russian thug, then so be it.
