Rafael Benitez insists Liverpool can no longer make any excuses about a hectic schedule affecting their league results and ordered his team to start winning games again - starting today.
There are 10 Premiership games between now and their next Champions League date and Benitez wants to see an immediate improvement in results.
"We haven't got the distraction of other competitions for a while and this is the time when we are looking to improve in the league," he stated. "We have 10 league games between now and our next Champions League game, starting with Newcastle and we want to try and win as many of those games as possible.
"It would be easy for me to say I need another year before I get to where I want us to be. But I don't want to have to wait another year. I want it now.
"We've had two bad results and you would think that our confidence is at a low. It's not. I have confidence in the team because they have confidence in themselves. I see Newcastle as one of our main rivals to finish in the top four just as Middlesbrough and Aston Villa are also. I don't feel under pressure. I know results haven't gone too well in the league lately but we are trying to improve things all the time.
"I don't throw tea cups in the dressing room but sometimes you need to shout to get your point across. I'm always thinking all the time about how to improve things."
