Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Vladimir Smicer, a player we bought from Lens, Houllier's previous club where he won the French championship (if I am not mistaken). Supposed to have the "skills" to change a game.

I have never seen him playing well enough for Liverpool, he does score the odd goal but that hardly qualifies as being a quality player. Started games far too often under Houllier and a very frustrating one as a lot of times he gives away possession far too cheaply. Much like Kewell but at least Kewell has skills and does sometimes show them.

Not missed at all. Come this summer, good riddance.

Well, you say that but then look at Traore and Biscan. They've really flourished under Benitez.

Obviously Smicer has something about him on his day. Maybe Rafa can harness it and make his days a bit more frequent? ???

I think Vladi is alot older and had sustain a severe injury. So, I don't think Vladi would flourish under Rafa no matter what Rafa does. In my mind, Vladi never was consistent and seems lost on the pitch most of the time. Maybe he just doesn't fit our team and its time to move on.

He must be about the same age as Didi Hamann, and although Hamann is slower and hardly scores, there is a place for him in the squad of rotating players who plays when the situation warrants as he can breakk up opposition attacks and provides cover for the defense.

Vladi can't do anything noteworthy as we already have better attackers in Kewell and Garcia, with Nunez and Warnock showing promise. What can Smicer do? Biscan can alternate with Hamann. We don't have a role for a player who breaks down our attacks because he is lousy at holding up the ball or making accurate passes (Smicer can mess up even short passes) and his shooting is not fantastic. Why do we need him?

Good riddance...

Has been a terrible waste of money (thanks again GH). No way he should get a contract.

He would be tailor made for the striker in the hole role that rafa craves.  Pity he is injured though....

Just not good enough!  We are moving forward, we need to get rid of some players and bring the wage bill down to allow us to compete for some top signings..  Sory Vlad.. time to go!!!
Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players.  We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On

Yeh has been a decent squad player and always tried hard but I dont think he should stay on, pretty sure he's still on a high wage as well which could go to more use elsewhere

Only notable thing I have remembered from him was his winner against Chelsea not so long ago, apart from that cant think of much else!
