getting to the last 4 of this competition isnt inconceivable. given the fact we've got a good few months to get our team playing to Rafa'a orchestrations a bit better, and our injuries will be less, and that we could be buyin a few players we need, well i cant see us doing too badly in the champions league by the time the second phase comes around.

i've looked at all the teams and the only ones i see REAL problems with are AC Milan, Juventus, and Chelsea. the rest i think we could deal with, yes even Real Madrid. we could score against them with the way we play. their defence can be exposed at times. if we can handle their pressure (the on-moving fullbacks is what enables them to push back teams sometimes) then we'd have a good chance of beating them. we've shown we can do Arsenal. blah blah you know what i mean, we have a good chance of the semi's here.

I wouldn't bet against us beating anyone over two legs, the important thing now is this will have given the players a HUGE boost and raised their expectancy levels as well.

You didn't mention Barcelona, I wouldn't like to face them or any of the Italian sides. I'm confident in our team though, and when you are in the knockout you have to play some very hard teams. It will be great to watch, better than UEFA cup :D

I agree.  Once we have some strikers i reacon we will be a dangerous side.  With the extra cash, and champions league football, who wouldn't want to come to Liverpool?

I say bring back Anelka.

Does a club receive money for each round they get to? ie: we've now got to the last 16 so we get a cash bonus, if we win the next round and progress to the last 8 do we get some more cash??

We can only get Bayern L, Lyon, Inter, AC Milan or Juve, people keep going on about Real and Barca but we can't be draw against them!!

Fingers crossed we can get some decent player(s) in Jan and have them settle by the next CL game in Feb

sorry i did mean to include Barca. i actually fear them more than the others i put down, but as Paul said, we dont even have a chance of facing them until the quarters, then its 1 in 8 chance.

I though it is only £2M~£3M from gate receipt and prize money, hence the talk of £5M~£10M is grossly exaggerated ??

Although i think whoever beats barcelona in the knock-out stages will win this competition...... i don't really give a damn who we get in the next round. All the teams in the last 16 are tough to beat.

I remember during the 2002 champions league quarter final, I thought that leverkuson was a easy tie. And they went to the final.

But the biggest reason why i don't give a sh** is becos we can kick anybody's a$$ if the team plays to its potential.  :D

Anything possible who thought last years final would be between Monaco and Porto
Besides as far im concerned anything now is a bonus, getting to second stage all things considered this season has been an excellent result

We're guaranteed a minimum of 5million for getting through to the 2nd round, which I believe is qualification money plus the lowest estimate for TV and gate receipts, which depends on who we draw.

If we get through to the last 8, we earn more qualification money and gate receipts, tv cash etc.

I think the sliding scale is between 5-15m for the rest of the competition, obvously depending how far we go.
