My hearts just stopped beating thru my chest. One of the all-time great goals at anfield and of such importance. . .WELL DONE STEVIE LAD!

and well played Sinama-Pongolle - his runnin stretched their defence and changed the game in the 2nd half!

The Arsenal game and now this. . .hopefully theres more to come this season! ! !  :D

I think I've lost my voice after all the screaming I did when I found out that we won.

Pongolle played well, scored the first, set up the second and stretch their defence in the second half and keeping the ball in the dying moment. First time i saw him being so effective in a game really...way to go! Kewell have upped his game the past week as well which is good news for us.

However, didn't realised Nunez was on the field throughout the game though ???

Absolutely amazing match.

The tension was unreal, Benitez looked incredibly stressed half way through the second half.

The funny thing is, at times we were poor and Gerrard had having a poorish game prior to him scoring. In fact, Gerrard could just as easily have been the villian tonight as his wild kick on the Greek player early in the second half was x-rated and utterly unprofessional.....it was crazy in fact.

Our passing was bad at times but what heart, what soul, what spirit!!!!!!

Hyppia, aside from Rivaldo's run which led to the first goal, had a great game.....his towering header in the first half in the opposition half was sensational, as was his ball to Kewell which lead to Pongolle's goal.

Pongolle was very good: pace, skill and best of all, plenty of hard work.

Mellor did extremely well when he came on, getting a good strikers goal and setting up Gerrard's goal with a neat header. He also had a very good dogged run that could have ended with a penalty.

Kewell did very well in the second half. Kewell liked very fired up tonight.

Riise's tocuh and distribution was all over the place, but the most important thing was that the guy absolutely killed himself on the pitch, and he gave Giovanni some earful early in the second half when Giovanni feined injury!

We have played far better this season in other games and lost or drew, and while tonight was frayed around the edges, there was hard work and spirit in abundance.

The pity is that Gerrard will get the headlines, but I was not impressed by his attitude at all until his goal. Pongolle and Kewell turned the game and Alonso, who had a quiet but effective night, kept our attacks ticking over.

I think Gerrard was trying was too hard as he has often done in the past and was lucky he didn't catch that greek properly or he would have been sent off.

I think Mellor deserves a special mention as we were getting nowhere until his instinctive finish and also his knockdown for Gerrard was perfect.
Smith to Shankly:My thigh is a bit sore, but I think I could play.
Shankly to Fagan:Tell him,Joe.He has got no chance of playing.
Smith to Fagan:Tell him to sod off.It is not his leg,it's mine.
Shankly to Smith:Oh no son.You are wrong, son. It is not your leg.
It is Liverpool Football Club's leg.

Gerrard's earlier volley that went in (but not counted for a foul by Baros) was as good as the actual goal that went in, and he hit the post in the first half, so he will definately get the headlines and MOTM award.
Mellor and Pongolle were lively and contributed well after the came in respectively.

i didn't mean gerrard was the only player on the pitch who played well, but hes the  leader of the team, gets them pumped up, i thought everyoen played well, but i dont know how traore started he was rubbish, but yes at half time i didnt think it was all over, but i knew it would take everyones effort in the 2nd half to win and look waht happened brilliant, pongolle changed the game for us and kewell did better for us 2nite but i wouldn't get carried away until hes had a run of good games

very pleasing though

One more thing...count the number of times Alonso send his 30 yards cross-field pass precisely to the feet of Kewell or Riise to launch our attack...beautiful stuff!

This has got to be the turning point for our club!!!

I've not seen the same players so desperate to win before. So many times I was frustrated watching us go one down at Anfield in the past few seasons, and getting frustrated at missing chances and dropping our heads.

Congratulations to Benitez for keeping a cool head when all others were losing theirs.

Viva Pongolle! The man that turned the match.

Neil Mellor, no matter where you go or what you do, you have a heart that many lack in football.

Harry Kewell!!! See what you can do when you want to?

I've not said this for 20 years, but there is a belief amongst the team I saw tonight. That belief they can win is what we've needed to reclaim our rightful place as Champions of Europe. If not this year, then next.

We'll have the 4th before the manc scum have their 2nd.

what a game. I thought we we're doomed at half time - respect to the gaffa & well done to the lads.

Only downer - Nunez. Doesn't look convincing at all but give him a few more games and who knows.
