i agree about mellor's potential. but i'd go with pongolle in that starting line up. i think once he puts one away he's gonna score loads

It is worrying that we have to choose from between either Pongolle or Mellor - both are yet to prove that they can deliver in the Premiership and both seem to be rather limited when they play.
Our other attack-inclined players like Garcia and Kewell have better start scoring, otherwise we are in for a long goalscoring drought by the strikers - not enough top quality to cut it in the Premiership. That's my 2 cents' worth. I hope either Pongolle or Mellor will start delivering now that they have the chance.

Without our main forwards its a six and two threes who you select. I would guess Benitez will just keep moving them around. They are mostly unaffective, so he puts them in takes them out. Nothing really works as it should. Its mend and make do until we can sort something out in transfer window.

If Pongolle and Mellor get injured which I hope they don't, the FA would have to let us sign a striker as Southampton had all of their goalkeepers injured and were permited to get a goalkeeper on a loan earlier this month.

A.B. That rule is ONLY in exceptional circumstances. Meaning you have either 13 or under outfield players or 1 recognised goalkeeper.
It DOES NOT specify positions other than goalkeeper or outfield.
