Similarly Rafa Benitez would not have signed Djibril Cisse.
Both have taken over Liverpool with a costly forward whom neither would have bought. Both were crazy signings given that the manager that bought them was sacked not long after each player arrived. Benitez was never sold on Cisse and got rid pretty much at the first financially viable chance.
There is no way Rodgers will change his philosophy on how the game is played for a player whom he didnt sign.. no way is he going to risk playing a different style to the one that got him the job, for one that could cost him it. If he is going to fail here he is going to fail using his methods, not one that caters to a previous managers player.
Rodgers has predominantly spoken of 7 players since he arrived.. Reina, the back 4 of Johnson, Enrique, Agger, Skrtel, as well as Gerrard and Suarez. All technically excellent, all versatile (even spoke of Pepe being used to linking up with play at Barca).
Thats the 7 he wont touch in terms of first choice starting line up. The remaining 4 places is anyones guess. The likes of Aquilani and Joe Cole, whom he has also spoken of, are his type of player.. so it will be interesting to see if either feature. Cole most definitely would if he had the physical capacity to, which seems unlikely due to the effects of previous injuries as well as his 40 a day habit.
Unless Andy develops rapidly on the floor, and also stays lean and shows more mobility, he wont last long under Rodgers.

Brendan Rodgers was praiseful of Andy Carroll as he believes the striker is hitting form and confidence at last following his move
“I thought Liverpool were excellent in midweek and Andy Carroll was really impressive,” said Rodgers in today's Wales on Sunday.
“It shows it’s a totally different pressure when you play for a big club like Liverpool. You are expected to win every single game and it was new for him.
“The adaptation takes time and forget about the football, it was a life change.
“He was bought for the long term. He didn’t put the price tag on his head. He’s a young kid who I have seen come through the England ranks. It was always going to take time.
“But we are starting to see the first real performances that you think he can go on and become a really fantastic player for Liverpool.
“He looked lean, mobile and great in his physicality the other night and his touch was good.
“He got a boost from his cameo in the FA Cup final and he’ll be coming here to do well.

I agree, but Carroll is not the type of footballer that is able to play tika taka football. I think Rodgers will end up selling him, which is ashame, I like Carroll, but if a player isn't suited to a managers style of play then he has to be sold.

Carroll could fit perfectly well into any style Rodgers decides for all we know.

Rodgers will implement a similar style to that of what Swansea team were playing, he's a British manager with a continental approach to the game. Carroll is an old fashioned English center forward and he has no continental play in his game, this automatically informs one of a mis-match.

Carroll had a poor season and it a big lad who struggled until the last month so the colours have been nailed - Carroll is judged by that poor period. And because he is big and good in the air that means automatically he is rubbish on the ground - Crouch suffered the same stereo type
