Brendan knows him from Chelsea maybe he has something still to prove and might be the option we're looking for in centre mid which could give us even more options even if we do get Sigurdsson.

Cole may think that but unfortunatly his knee injurys have ruined him - he wants to play in CM ? well im sorry Cole but we have better options there and we will buy even better. Cole was a very expensive mistake - a signing to try and please the fans.

Also ask yourself why he played so well pre season ? Playing for a move home pre chance ?

Also Kenny said the same sort of things about Aquilani and Cole last summer - then they went on loan.

as friendlyguy33 has pointed out aquilani could see that the club under roy and then kenny were going for a more robust approach in centre mid, the 2 summer signings (both british centre mids) told him where he stood at the club. you say why didnt he stay and fight for his place but alonso went on the back of just a proposed signing.

What does Alonso have to do with our current situation ?

Aquilani twice now has looked to leave to go to Italy - he doesnt want to be in this country.

People had the same conversation last summer and the summer before - the proof is in his actions.

Lets look to the future and not harbour back to previous mistakes.

20 mil - 8 games in three seasons for us and even whilst on loan he stills kept on getting injured.

if a player doesnt feel that he`s part of the clubs or managers plans he`ll go, good ones will anyway. thats why i mentioned alonso, first hint that he may be surplus to requirements and he was planning his exit.
even kuyts talking about getting off now because he`s not getting game time. i dont blame aquilani for not staying at a club where he wasnt wanted.
we`ll see what happens anyway, personally i`d have him back.

Kenny wanted and played a high possesion game with lots of passing and was supposed to be perfect for Aquilani but he doesnt want to be here - he has no house in Chester anymore - his family live in Italy.

Here you go again stating what his agent said. Because agents ALWAYS tell the truth right?

I would be made up is he came back but youre right, he has had a bad experience here and wants to stay in Italy
I dont blame him for the way he was treated by Rafa.

Personally I will give him away for free - any player who doesn't want to be part of the squad can leave.

Rafa left two years ago now and he has left under two other managers, Rafa questioned his heart and desire to play in the prem and it looked like he was right.

Two managers in Italy didn't want him after a loan spell - one wants him but doesn't think he is worth a fee. He is brittle in both mind and body which is a waste of great football ability

Whatever
7 assists and 2 goals tells us he could have been successfull in the prem but Rafa went loopy and fu'cked it up
Fair enough if he doesnt want to be here but its our loss

Half the season out injured tells us the other story.

Rafa went loopy ?!? 2 years later he still gets slated because a player didn't have the heart to play in the prem. Brittle

whenever aquilani was picked he did well, like his MoM performance against portsmouth or when he scored against athletico madrid in the europa league semi`s. our best performances in the latter part of rafa`s reign were when aquilani was in the side.
but by that time benitez was overly cautious and filled the side with workhorses, he was scared to lose a game because he knew the likes of purslow and hicks were adding up his losses to justify giving him the boot,  it wasnt just aquilani who struggled to get a game but anyone of that style like babel, benayoun, riera etc.

Blimey - You are trying to drag back memories from over 2 years ago now ! Time to move on .

How exactly have Babel and Benaynoun done since ? Nothing is the answer.

We have a new young hungry manager - lets get him young hungry players instead of trying to drag out the remains of our previous failures. Time to move on

Aquilani wasnt the only one to suffer when Rafa lost the plot. Im not slating him, merely pointing out the fact that when he lost the plot Aquilani was one of those who fell foul of him.
Agger is brittle. Should we fu'ck him off?

Agger has proven himself over more than 7 or 8 games

Agger has shown he doesn't have a weak mind.

Aquilani is weak in mind as well as body

he`s a good player lad, he`s on loan at AC milan not some lower division club.
just because it doesnt work out for a player early on at a club doesnt mean it wont work out eventually, it took terry mcdermott 3 years to break into the side and look at the career he had here, scoring our first ever goal in a european cup final for a start.
anyway we are going round in circles, rodgers obviously rates him and wants him back but if the player himself doesnt want to come back then thats the end of it.

Rodgers has said a few soundbites which I would take as a pinch of salt currently - as I said Kennt said the same sort of things about Aquilani last summer.

Rodgers isn't going to slate him in the press is he ? He was asked a question and gave a sensible diplomatic answer - he is a talent player. I wouldn't take that a meaning he wants to stay just yet.

This really is de ja vu ?! It's the same story every summer with him
