I have just watched the highlights and it seems to me that this phrase *we tend to just lump the ball towards Carroll" is untrue and gets people believing that this is actually the case. Yes there will be times when the ball is put into the penalty area with the hope that Carroll gets his head on it, which he did on nearly every occasion on saturday. But for the most part, if given proper service, like Suarez did with his pinpoint cross, then Carroll will deliver. As has been previously noted though, this pathetic and stupid claim that he is useless on the floor has been blown out of the water and any knob who says it again should just fu'ck off and watch synchronised swimming because they know fu'ck all about football

Where in that post or any other post have I said Andy is 'useless on the floor'? I think you'll find I haven't and yes we do play ugly, long balls to Carroll. We've been doing it all season long, we're just fortunate enough to have a player like Suarez in the team who makes things happen with his feet. We're not as bad as we used to be with the long ball game because Carragher is virtually out of the team, but we still lump the ball up to Carroll. In fact when Andy came on in the FA Cup final, that's all Downing was doing. Instead of playing the ball across midfield, Downing and Enrique were just trying to lump the ball across to Carroll. It was a desperate tactic from a desperate team that knew that time was running out for them to get an equaliser. So, no it's not a myth!

When time's running out, it's customary to try to get the ball forwards quickly...

It would appear that his display when he came off the bench in the Cup final has lifted the weight off his shoulders as he looks much more content. Moving much better also.
Its the best i've seen him by a mile, and he does look a real handful. Terrorized their backline. Keeps doing that humble pie will be gladly eaten.
The main reservation i have (and have always had) is does he compliment Suarez? Was there much interplay between the two? Suarez is a keep it on the floor player, and likes to link up with fast attacking play.. one twos, interplay..the manner inwhich he does with similar type players with Uruguay.
The aerial stuff is a good alternative.. especially when he plays like that. He has to maintain this and kick on now.
We need to sign a clinical #9 to finish off moves in tight games.... and with Suarez and Carroll (maintaining the form he showed tonight) that would see us well equipped upfront.
