So called silverware drought............ - Lfc's cup record since 2000

Liverpool Football Club - Games

I've been more than a little miffed at the press (nothing new there then!) this past week as LFC prepared for their first trip to the NEW Wembley.

Thought the media made far too much of it being first visit in 16 years blah blah blah when the place was shut from 2000-2007 and during that tiem no team went to Cardiff more than us. It got me thinking about just what we have won since 2000 and it reads like this :

2001 - League Cup, FA Cup, UEFA Cup
2004 - League Cup
2005 - European Cup
2006 - FA Cup
2012 - League Cup

In that same period Chelsea have won 6 Cups, United 4, Arsenal 3 and City 1 ! Not bad then for a team almost invariably portrayed as a team in decline ?   :Oo:

Obviously I haven't factored in the Premiership Title which continues to elude us but our Cup record in second to NONE and therefore talk of our demise is perhaps a little premature !

Walk on ...................Its what we do   :kungfu:

Amazing isn't it.

I think the press and media get confused with winning cups and winning the league. After all it's the league we've had a drought in, nothing else. dic.kheads!

I read this the other day that if Liverpool one the League cup, we'd have more cup wins than any other premier club this century.  People just love to overlook us.  Incredible considering it's been 6 years too.

Let's take the FA cup, community shield and both cups again next season as well as the league and then maybe somebody will acknowledge us.

Its an interesting stat though the media were focusing more on the notion that we haven't won a trophy in the last 6 years

Liverpool and Everton between them have won the league 27 times, meaning the city of Liverpool has won the league more times than any other city, including a combined London. Maybe time for the London sides to do some navel gazing as thats a disgraceful record from their point of view.

I didnt include Charity Shields, Super Cups etc........I wanted to illustarte that in the genuine Cups that are up on offer to ALL clubs, LFC are top. If I included the Charity Shields/Super Cups etc....United would be way out in front and we don't want that do we !
