Star men thus far.. - Who's making us tick?

Who's our  best 3 players so far this season?

Who's our worst?

BEST!

1) Skrtel's really come on leaps and bounds this year. Very consistant. Very strong. His positioning and awareness are much better this year.

2) Enrique is pure class. Best signing for a long time in my eyes. He's really making a difference. His energy, strength, skill and intelligence are those of a man who should have cost us £25m.

3) Agger, when fit, must be among the top 3 CB's in the premier league. Good with the ball at his feet, strong in the air, a full blooded tackler and he carries a "don't f*** with me" attiude. Don't understate the effect Agger has on us as a team merely by being present on the pitch.

Worst? Has to be Hendo for me. I don't think he has the balls to play for us. I hope he can prove us wrong, but i'm not sure i've ever seen him do anything for us  :(

Top 3 players this season:

1) Skrtel: Massive improvement and possibly best Liverpool player this season

2) Jose Enrique: Brilliant, best Liverpool signing of the season

3) Daniel Agger: Solid, steady and classy

Worst 3 players this season:

1) Downing: Not lived up the hype I'm afraid

2) Henderson: Not ready, no influence in the game, always invisible

3) Andy Carroll: He is improving, but he doesn't have enough goals in him

Apart from Lucas, I don't think I've ever seen an improvement in such a short space of time as I've seen from Skrtel this season. He was excellent when we first brought him and then he got that really bad knee injury away at City in 08/09 and was never the same for 18 months. You always felt there was a rick in him and there were people on here who wanted us to sell him. This year he's been a monster though and easily player of the season for me. Attacks the ball much more aggressively now, reads the game better than in the past and has also popped up with 4 goals. Infact I'd say he's become a leader and should be considered for the captaincy after Gerrard hangs up his boots.

We absolutely picked Newcastle's pocket with Enrique and it still makes me shudder that at one stage we were looking at signing Clichy instead of him. Best left back in the Premier League easily for me, certainly from a defensive point of view. I've never seen a full back get his body between the ball and attacker to such great effect on such a regular basis. If he works on his attacking play and his decision making when going forward then we'll have a real world beater on our hands.

The other one has to be Bellamy. Said it was a no-brainer at the time as he supports the club and cost nothing and what a move it's turned out to be, even though he's got dodgy knees now. Our top scorer in all competetions despite not starting every game he looks quicker to me now than the first time he was at the club which is remarkable. He also has a football brain and a desire which certain other players in the squad can learn from.

Notable mentions to Agger who's been excellent aswell this season and back to his best. Love watching the guy play. Oh and on Charlie Adam, I know he has his detractors but he's in double figures for assists.

Good call, though I bet Agger and Reina might fancy it too.

BEST!

Lucas......... by far, makes you wonder where we would have been in the prem by now if he was fit.

Bellamy........still shocked we got him for free lol has shown what is needed to be a liverpool player.

Skrtel ..........had a good year so far, can still balls things up from time to time but in all he has be so strong.

Worst.

for a start i am not going to put Carrol in this but, I think he has done well, he has not got many goals but he has set a lot up and tends to put the ball in the right place for anyone coming off him...shame they then miss.

no for me its.

Henderson.......... just been put in the wrong place and used wrong.

Downing............... have been let down by him but is he about to turn it on?

and now the one that none of you are going to like but...

Reina...........yes he is still great in goal most of the time but he is starting to make mistakes when coiming out of his goal and i do feel he has to be blamed for many goals let in this year. but he is in my worse list due to his attitude, has often looked very unhappy and with no carragher there saying "keep your eyes on the ball" he has often had his head down and looking as if he is not part of the team.

you really just dont like him do you lakes?.
he has conceeded just 23 goals in the league this year.the only other keeper who stands above him is joe hart so that makes pepe the second best keeper in the league.
performance wise he doesnt deserve to be included in that list

Think everyone is in agreement that the stand outs have been Skrtel, Agger and Bellamy. Had Suarez not been a silly boy then we would have been talking about him.

On Enrique - I agree that, at £5M, a great deal for us but I have been slightly concerned in recent weeks by his performances. Been a bit lax and IMO was to blame for Cardiff's first goal on Sunday. Has made a few mistakes in recent (I think I remember Man City). He has been a great signing but needs to sharpen up a little bit I reckon.

Well we just won a trophy and we're back in Europe at least and there is still more to play for this season.  And im sure we'll be investing again in the summer.  Reina will stick around for at least one more season.

Agree that Enrique, Skrtel and Bellamy are stand out performers this year.  Lucas and Agger deserve a mention as well.

Thats probably harsh on Reina and Suarez but those 2 have set the bar really high for themselves.

Best -

Skrtel - Immense. Nothing more needs to be said.
Lucas - Another player who has shrugged off abuse and become irreplaceable
Suarez - Little genius.

Worst -

Adam - I had high expectations, even he would admit he hasn't hit the expectations that were assumed after his season at Blackpool.
Downing - see above.
Carroll - Shame it has taken so long to see his potential. Next season will be make or break.

Best
Enrique
Skrtel
Suarez

Worst
Hendersson
Downing
Andy
Adam

I'm not sure how much worse we could have done with those transfers.. the only thing that saved us was the Torres transfer.

Pretty much agree although I would say Suarez started well and has trailed off for obvious reasons. Adam has improved over the season and Bellamy deserves a mention.
Worst? I think Carroll has underacheived and not really done himself proud by some of his performances, but saying that he has had a positive influence on many games, not least his part in Skrtels goal on sunday. Downing has blown hot and cold with some decent and many poor performances so far but Henderson has been the biggest let down for me. Im sure theres a good player waiting to come out but I wish hed hurry up

Agree with all three.

Skrtel is easily club player of the year, and should also be in Premier team of the year. Agger aint far behind him which shows how good the partnership is..by far the best in the league.

I will defend Downing as his stats would be a hell of a lot better if we had a top #9 who makes the necessary runs in the box. How many assists would he have with Aldo or Rush in the team? At Wembley there was two absolute pearlers across goal that a Lineker or Rush would have tapped in.
