Last word on owen - A case of sour grapes maybe ?

Michael Owen’s chance , will surely come he will bide his time, the boys  quality  and will be a success at Real Madrid if only for his unstinting application towards the game .

Lets face it he was continually written off practically every occasion he endured a lean patch but the lad fought the adversity  and the constant disparaging  and derogatory  reports from the press  and came through  it with his reputation as a World Class Striker intact .

That’s why I advocate there is more to the character of Michael Owen than to accept  defeat and be vanquished into obscurity  . If not I for one would accept him back with open arms because he will always be a Liverpool Legend he just played in the wrong Liverpool team .

There is a lot of gloating on this forum as to his present predicament and I find that disconcerting  Owen provided some of the most memorable moments along with Fowler for the Liverpool of the nineties ,sour grapes can sometimes leave a distasteful aroma lets not  bury Michael Owen just yet
He deserves that much at the very least

He would be getting goals again in this Liverpool side i have no doubts about that. People can say all they like about the lad but his goalscoring record just speaks for itself. I still hope he succeeds in Madrid but it may have been the wrong move with the quality they also possess there. I also would be delighted if he was to return to the club but i dont believe it will happen. I have said it before and i'll say it again that he suffered under GH but would have flourished under Rafa with his ideas.

I think Owen was a bit inpatient, I don't think he wanted to play another season at Liverpool to see how things would go with a new manager, instead he jumped quickly to Real Madrid because Real Madrid were claiming that they had good enough players to win the Champions League. Things arent going the way he thought they would

Listen mate, whatever rock you crawled out of , go and climb back underneath it!!!!!!!!! I have never heard such TOSH in my life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a loada Bollo*x.

"Owens chance will surely come" ?? how the hell do u know? is that in the 2005/2006 season?

"he was written off practically every occasion, and he fought adversity" ?? when the fook was this then? ??? "Derogatory Reports from the Press" ????? i dont remember Owen fighting adversity, or having derogatory reports, the poor little lamb. He's had it sweet from day one!

What on earth are you talking about REDBERGOGGLES??? are you INSANE?

I've never heard such a sad, sympathetic excuse for sad striker who only thought about himself, deserted others, had it cushy for years and chased the glory trail at a cost to LFC.

Whihc is gonna backfire on him badly, no doubt.

ONCE AGAIN HUSTKER HAS A BUNCH OF ****** TO SAY other than that great post, i have always backed owen and have gone out of my way to do so, great player. When i first discovered him he is the reason i started following liverpool, so it's pretty damn hard to tarnish his record.

I think it would be hard for him to come back as I'm sure the relationship with Raf and others will have been tainted.

Also I think Owen needs a Heskey type player to play alongside him and so that maybe a sacrifice that a lot of teams will not be prepared to do.

His style is depend largely on the long ball game and Raf has already committed to the short passing game so where would MO fit in?

Listen, Owen WAS a great player, a good servant to the club who he ultimately walk-out on (read...betray!) He is not going to be the same players from years ago, and no doubt he can still knock in goals here and there, we have moved on and there are better options for us now. It was sad the day he left but ultimately, his betrayal overtook any feeling of sadness I had for him. He was badly adviced (was he seriously thinking that he could break into the Madrid team consist of Ronaldo, Raul & Morientes based on his reputation alone?) and now he will pay the price because Real will not have patience like Liverpool under Houllier had for him.

I don't seriously think that Rafa will want him back either. Remember, it was Rafa who try to talk to both Stevie and Mikey to stay and move the club forward and Mikey left after promising to sign a new extension before the season starts. I don't know about the rest of you but loyalty means a lot more to me than anything else, sometime even above ability (which is why I wouldn't want an Anelka or a Klivert in our team).

And above all, he is no longer the player I will remember him by...and stop quoting any example from more than 2 years back otherwise we might as well have the Spice Boys (Macca and Robbie) back. Sorry to disagree with some of you but this is just my feeling about Mikey.

Walk on ...
